Tom, you may (emphasize "may") have the lower priority because of your deal. The dealer would frontload more profitable orders by giving them better priority #'s.
But different dealers use the priority # system in different ways, so it is relative.
Ultimately, you gotta ask him about his allocation and how many Mustang orders he has in front of yours. Dealers are cagey about their allocation #'s and may not be eager to share, but try anyway. He will likely be surprised that you knew to ask, and may be forthcoming.
That info will tell you a lot more than just the relarive priority # by itself.

Thaks for the info, got another question the dealer code I was given is 6 characters long (five numbers and one letter) someone told me once something about that. Something like you don't use the letting in it or you leave off the last number? Can someone help me out on this?

When does ERL update? I heard it was every Thurs or something. That means I should call once a week on Fridays, right?

ERL updates on Thursday evenings as that is when Ford does their weekly scheduling.
As far as your priority number, the only thing that matters is how many others are lower than yours. If your is his only Mustang order then your 40 is the same as another dealers 10.

"As of Aug 14th, your vehicle was shipped via rail carrier."
"As of Aug 15th, your vehicle was shipped via convoy carrier."
"As of Aug 16th, your vehicle was shipped via rail carrier."
Boy, is she fickle!!!
Here it is the 19th, and it still isn't at the dealership yet. I'm trying to get the railcar # for Kzinti over at BlueOval, but when I call the 800 number with my VIN (1ZVHT85165100477 dealer code 27050 order #M001, body style T85) and asked to talk with an analyst, I was told that they will only talk with a dealer, not a customer.
Can someone help me out? I'm just trying to find out how close to VA my car is without constantly bugging my dealership. They've been very patient with me so far, but I don't want to wear out my welcome...

Mark, the dealership and the salesperson are WORKING FOR YOU! They will make their penny on your car, and it is perfectly OK to call your salesperson and have him track this down for you!
Think of all the calls to them you DIDN'T make because you had the ERL to tide you over. You are far better informed than the average customer, and they should respect that.
Oh yeah - BTW, I am in Suffolk. Let's hook up after we are both delivered and do a photo shoot for the TMS gang!

Oh, and that photo shoot sounds like a good idea too!

Got through to the ERL and it said there was no info for the information I provided . I ordered on 7/8 and people ordering after me already got build dates and VIN#'s. OK now I really hate my dealer. His allocation is probably too small, to get pulled.

It took me 5 or so calls before I got all my information straight.
Make sure you're only saying the numbers in the dealer identification code. Skip over any letter that might be there. 12X345 is "one" "two" "three" "four" "five" to the ERL.
Make sure that you're saying it's a 2006, not a 2005 (like I did... :bang: )
Make sure you're saying each thing separately. ex: "tee" "eight" "five" for a GT 'vert. (Though, apparently, "two" "thousand" "six" works as well as "two" "zero" "zero" "six".
Make sure you're reading all four numbers from your order number.

My father in law told me when he ordered his chevy truck part of their service is to give the customer a number to track their car. They don't have to sneak around to get it.Why can't Ford do that.I really don't see the big deal about it??
