I have had a squeaking coming from the brake handle for as long as I can remember. I took it into the dealership to see if there was anything to do, and they are like well we could lube it up, or since it is two plastic parts connected there isn't much to do there.

So I was like, well there has to be an interior upgrade that can be done to it. What kind of interior upgrades, relating to the emergency brake handle and other dials have you all done?

 

Try WD-40, it works well between plastic parts. Worked for my A-pillar rubbing

I have the same noise if I understand what you saying. I call mine a vibration, usually during acceleration, of the 2 plastic covers on the lower portion of the e-brake handle. As soon as I grab it, it goes away. So, it's obviously the plastic.

I've been looking for a solution for some time now. I wonder, and hope, on of those aluminum brake handles would clamp over the plastic, but I haven't seen or heard anyone say this is the case. So I haven't ordered one....yet.

Removing the plastic altogther and covering it with a leather boot, is still a possibility.

The cheap out, I'm gonna try this weekend (don't know why I didn't think to try it sooner), is tightly wrap some black electrical tape around the 2 pieces. May not be the BEST looking, but for $0.0003 it's the best value solution, if it works!

Yep, same thing as me. It is usually when the brake parts are vibrating somehow. Yep, same thing and same solution. I don't like to grab the brake and have to stop it that way. I tried twisting it a little, but I didn't wrap anything around it. Hmm...I like the look of it, so I won't get the leather boot thingy. I don't remember seeing any screws to tighten, do you?

 

That looks really nice, but I don't think it is going to prevent the two pieces of plastic from rubbing together and making that squeaking sound.

 

I would think black electrical tape would leave a gummy residue over time, which I guess could be cleaned up and re-done with pine-sol and new tape, but I don't have anything to compare to on noise/squeak because mine either doesn't do it, or it's not noticible enough for me to do anything about it......

 

mine broke a while back while pulling up on the handle... the two piece plactic cover came apart
