I honestly don't know how you can like the Mustang better than the C6. The C6 blows away the 05 GT in handling, braking, and acceleration. I drove a C6 and if I could have afforded one, that would be the car I would have driven.

I have to respectfully disagree - the C6 is certainly an incredible car and a performance bargain compared to a Porsche or a Ferarri but compared to the Mustang in handling and ride, it does not 'blow it away'. Maybe marginally better at the 10/10's effort but for those of us who seldom if ever go to the track, you're paying for performance you will never, ever use.

Sure, the C6 has 100 MORE HP so it's performace should better in acceleration. But when it comes down to real world value and bang for your buck, the '05 Mustang GT absolutely blows away the Vette.

Don't get me wrong - I would LOVE to have a C6! But for what they want for the C6's, I could buy TWO new Mustang GT's!

Now, THAT is value in my book.

I guess I am one of the few who tracks cars. I know this is a hardcore Mustang site, but don't be so opinionated guys. The C6 is a MUCH more balanced and refined car, in terms of handling. You really don't have to be a great driver to notice that. I mean come on, you guys actually believe Ford set out to match the Vette in terms of performance/handling with the 05 GT? Just go out and look at the tires Ford chose for the 05 GT. They are a very poor pick if handling was a high priority.

The C6 is a great bang for the buck, as is the 05 GT. Look at how much the C6's competitors cost and how it performs. The C6 Z06 will even further the cars bang for the buck.

He actually said the Mustang is more fun to drive, and that the Vette was quicker so whats the problem. Anyways lets just wait for the SVT until we start comparing these cars.

That was one A-1 review. And as far as the Corvette/Mustang comparisons, I'll do one of my own....... A 2-seat sports car (Corvette) shouldn't be as big as a house IMO. I wouldn't care if the Corvette was $10,000 cheaper, I wouldn't own one. Now, if it were a Corvette from the pre-70's, I would look differently.

I have owned a Vett and now a GT. I would rather be seen in the GT and the ride does not bounce my eyeballs like two basketballs. How sweet it is. Try it. You will like it for sure. I was not paid to say that!!

If you don't like getting stared at, don't drive this car…it gets more attention than Lady Godiva riding bareback down Fifth Avenue.
My favorite part of the read. It made me laugh out loud but it it so true
That's very true. It's nice to know that other people appreciate your car, but if you're running late it can be a pain because people want to stop you when you're getting in or out of the car to talk to you about it.

Yeah, no reason to get bent over a GT vs corvette comparison. I look at it this way, Ford has done a GREAT job (other than tires ) of getting closeish to vette performance for a fraction of the cost.

In the EXACT same vein, so has Corvette compared to a Porsche, et al. for a bargain price. Just that the GT fits my finances much better than does a C6.

Dodge already has prototypes of the charger, so its not really a rumor anymore. Check out these spy shots:

Well, two views on accessing a performance car:

How fast the car goes.
How the car goes fast.

In other words, simply because a car racks up impressive or superior track and test numbers does not necessarily mean its more fun to drive. All too often, quite the opposite can be true where the faster car is an obdurate handful to actually drive and the slower car proves to be the finer dance partner. More than a few times I have found relatively slow cars to be an utter joy to actually drive in spite of their modest objective performance numbers. It is those subtle but ineffable subjective quality that gives many European performance cars and sports cars their character and desirability. That often gets overlooked by bigger is better muscle car zealots, and was a big weakness of the SN95 Stangs, but is now proving to be a major design factor and draw of the new S197 -- a car that feels as good as it goes.

Now I'm not saying the C6 is thus a less enjoyable car to drive -- such assessments are very subjective after all -- but only that the one editor found the Mustang more enjoyable for his own reasons.

Hey, its all opinion you know?

I drove my friend's '96 Vette and HATE the way it rides and the way you feel when you drive. Nice car - but not my cup you know?

Then again, that same guy just sold his '96 and bought an '02 - I asked him about the new '05s and he said he test drive one and DIDN'T like it at all. So there ya go....

Yes, but it doesn't really look like a Dodge Charger, does it.

There is no mistaking an 05 Mustang for anything other than a Mustang, and that's a big part of the retro appeal.

Don't see that in the proposed Charger models (especially with 4 doors).
