Listen up folks, my friend has about 1000 miles and then he gets an intermittent knocking sound from the engine, took it to the dealer and ends up he is getting a NEW engine the timing chain was the supposed culprit, the darn thing sounded like a diesel engine at idle and the louder he revved the louder the noise got. The first thing the service manager did when he pulled in was run his hand up under the rear wheel well looking for pieces of rubber. Quit your whining and go to the dealer.

After ownig several manual trans equiped Jeeps, the gear chatter rear end whine is to be expected. Each one of those Jeeps remained problem free in those areas for 70k+ miles on the original clutches.('97 TJ 4cyl had a manifold bolt & oil pressure sending unit trouble)

I have a little different take on the "Whining, whirring" noises from the drivtrain, IF there turns out to be an issue with the Diff, trans I will be first in line at the dealer to have it fixed. BUT I like the noises the car makes....This is a Mustang!, if I did'nt want to not hear every little nuance and drivetrain sound i would have bought some other car....Lexus, Bimmer? Lets get real here people....We LOVE this stuff B)
Ditto

performance maybe, not interior materials.

Technically, the Corvette wasn't really a muscle car. I have always considered it one, but, it is technically a sports car.

Any update on the brake squeal? I've got it too. Not there when braking lightly or heavily, just in-between.

I know this thread is really old but i just wanted to see if anyone else has had any problems with their breaks squeaking.. i am now having problems with mine just as acadian said his were its not when braking softly or heavy just somewhere in the middle... has anyone gotten it fixed by Ford? did it fix the problem? Was it covered under warrenty? I've only had my car for a little over 2 months so i know it can't be because of the way i brake. Any answers would be greatly appriciated.

The only problem I have had is a high-pitched squeak coming from the brakes when I brake. If I brake very light or pretty hard, no squeaking... but when I brake normally it squeaks. Pretty loud too. Kinda embarrassing being a brand new car. Anyone else having this problem... and any ideas on what to do?
Ian, I have the same problem...... Drives me up the wall.

To fix break sqeak...get ford to turn the brake rotors...get just a tad off...also you might want to consider getting ceramic brake pads if the mustangs dont come standard with them?

Try a proper bedding in procedure for the brakes. That was the first thing I did with my GT, and my brakes do not squeak, and I have no complaints about the stopping power, either.

And just what is a "proper bedding in procedure"?
