A little off Topic here, but my son (a 4X4 enthusiast) wants to know if the Rear Diff on the new Mustang is a Ford 8.8?

1400 miles in three weeks. Very hard driving. Took it up to 120 mph. Put better tires on it. More hard driving. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. MY car was built on a Thursday though.... Knock on wood.

Rear window glass rattles quite a bit even at slower speeds. I fix it by turning up the radio

My Sonic Blue GT was built on October 4th and I took delivery on October 29th. I have had to take mine back to the dealership twice for air conditioning problems (first time they thought the refrigerant leaked out , and the second time they actually investigated the real cause), but the problem ending up being a bad accumulator (whatever the heck that is). The dealership was very helpful and seemed to bend over backwards to address my concerns, so my experience hasn't been a bad one. I haven't experienced any other problems with mine aside from this and I absolutely love the looks I constantly get in this car. Yee haw!!!

Very good observation. I've heard many times, that it does make a difference whether your car is or isn't built after that weekend hangover.

Used to work at a Ford dealerships body shop in the early 80's. We'd investigate noise complaints (rattles, squeeks etc..) from new car owners pretty frequently. Found alot of weird stuff like loose bolts and washers thrown inside door frames. Even found a beer bottle once (apparently a gift from one of the assembly line workers)! Probably done while UAW contract talk where going on. Not that any of this relates to this thread so much, just brought back some funny memories!

With that description you totally diverted my attention from the Mustang.

I have a little different take on the "Whining, whirring" noises from the drivtrain, IF there turns out to be an issue with the Diff, trans I will be first in line at the dealer to have it fixed. BUT I like the noises the car makes....This is a Mustang!, if I did'nt want to not hear every little nuance and drivetrain sound i would have bought some other car....Lexus, Bimmer? Lets get real here people....We LOVE this stuff B)

I agree with bullitman. I like the sound of gear noise. If I wanted a quiet car
I'd buy a Lincoln B) I do not yet own an '05 but I have driven one.

I hear the term "world class" bandied about in relation to Ford and/or the Mustang.

I'm sorry, but my definition of "world class" is reserved for such nameplates as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porche.... when it comes to sports cars.

In Fords defense, they may have entered the "world class" with the GT, but that requires $150k not $25k, and it's a very limited production car. In fact most cars considered to be "world class" aren't being churned out at the rate of 180,000+ units per year.

There isn't ANYTHING out there that can be considered "world class" at $25k.

What american muscle car has EVER been considered "world class"

The only problem I have had is a high-pitched squeak coming from the brakes when I brake. If I brake very light or pretty hard, no squeaking... but when I brake normally it squeaks. Pretty loud too. Kinda embarrassing being a brand new car. Anyone else having this problem... and any ideas on what to do?
Same here acadian. But it started once the dealer painted my calipers.

Any update on your problem>?

The higher the mountain, the sweeter the climb. I'll bet she loves your Mustang when it arrives.

Tomorrow for me! :headbang:

May be irelivant but I bought 99 F150 and within 5k miles its rearend began howling and progressed rapidly. I also am a Mech. and when I took it to the dealership I had too convince The service writer that this was not normal. upon informing him that I was a Mech. he agreed to take care of it. they kept it about a week and the day I picked it up at about 4:55 pm I made it about 5 miles and it started howling again. I called the service manager the next morning and told him it was still making noise I was bring it back and was not taking it back unless it was 100% well he called me in 2 days I went down and it had a brand new rearend in it . And when I was there I noticed a whole pallet of rearends out in the service area.
