Drive to St Louis/Blue Ridge Pkwy over the 4th

heres a few of the 1000+ pics I took. drove from fayetteville, NC through VA/WV/KY/IL/IN/etc then back through KY to Memphis, Memphis to Nashville, through the mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway, did each trip in one day non stop

realized as we were leaving at 5 in the morning that I was due for servicing in 200 miles, the trip was a little longer than that, luckily we pulled into a ford dealer just opening in winston salem and got that taken care of

I threw some other interesting pics in here, a few that show some of the flooding even in St louis, the water had creeped in, covering a street running along the river and moving up the arch steps, i'd say maybe 8 feet deep, theres a plaque on one of the bridges showing the 93 flood height, this is about a foot below that

I wish I couldve shown more of shady jacks but pictures werent aloud inside, bras hanging from the cieling type place, great people, the best burger i've ever eaten with the best waffle fries to boot, I could go on, loved the place

also if your anywhere near the place, they have a fireworks display on the river that cant be beat, better than epcot, DC or anything else I've seen

found this off the road somewhere along the way

East St Louis, terrible part of town, probably the first mustang to brave it

while driving along we saw these guys, then walked into some kind of heaven on earth, shady jacks saloon, go there

stopped at the TN museum or aviation on the way back

I'll tell you - I am dying for the longest time to take a roadtrip north and hit the Blue Ridge Pkwy and the Tail of the Dragon

you know I only got to catch the southeastern corner of it all, it took so long driving through the smoky mountains national park, which was beautiful itself, that by the time I reached the parkway, the sun was fading fast

just drive up there, spend the night at pidgeon forge where theres plenty to do, then devote a whole day for the trip, I'm hoping to do that soon

I can't believe you went to East St. Louis. I wouldn't go there in the middle of the day with a police escort....

I heard alot of bad, but it was around 11, bright, and reasonably quick, it did get alot of attention, I did more than roll through alot of stopsigns, also, a concealed carry permit helps quite abit with personal fears, and the type of people who would try something, I have no problem harming......the result, GOOD PICS

Ill. does not have a concealed carry law... Could have been a real interesting trip in an East Stl. Jail. .

Wish I had known you were coming, could have given you a list of some great places to go. But it looks like you found a few too.

Great pic's !

That would really suck in that case, I packed it in my bag for the trip and then figured behind the seat would work for that particular drive, I dont want to imagine a night in jail there, but its better than being jacked, stranded or dead

whats a few other places worth checking out, I'll be back up there October I think, I went to the loop, old spaghetti factory, the casino, shady jacks, etc, I'd love to see some new stuff next time

To bad you couldn't flag down the convertable with the Big Foot sized rims and take a picture with both of your cars.
