i dont c why some of u are so uptitght about not getting the trailer. its just a commercial geez. and its not like Brad is forcing us to pay to be here, he's already done so much for us without asking anything in return. :worship: dont act like its the end of the world geez. also from wat i hear, most of the $$ is going towards this site anyway. and if u dont got $15 now, like me, just w8, itll be on TV in a bit ne ways.

I completely support Brad's need to help pay for this site. I also think it might be ok to place a banner or two more on the page(of GOOD companies, Steeda, Roush, etc.), but PLEASE no pop-ups.

College is runnin' me $10k/year and I honestly am drowning in student loans as it is, but I am still going to sign up for this on my next paycheck. I think most ppl out there can put a drop in the bucket to help pay for this great site.

My .02.

everyone seems to have gotten there panties in a bunch you do relize that he put up the money and hard work to get this site on the net

now why shouldnt we give back to him?

another thing to look at... a subcription to a magazine is anywere from 15 to 50 a year and it dosnt have half the stuff in it that we are looking for.. and a ton of ads that mean nothing to us readers

so i ask why not support why not help a fella out that has done so much for us????

its not manditory to pay to get the info but it would be the right thing to help him out i know i have well gotten my donation worth of information here and thats why i paid not becuse of anything but the fact that i have learned so much here about my soon to be future car!!!! why not help a buddy out in need i know that if you were my freind and i really needed a few bucks to say EAT and you had it but then said i dont want to give you anything i would have to punch you in the face!!!! (since i have probably helped you out along the lines somewhere)

point being are we freinds????
or are we just USER'S?????

something to think about my .02 worth

moral of this story its nothing worth getting your panties in a bunch over its not a subscription its helping a freind out in need........

when this idea first came up super stalions where told and it is posted in this forum that we would be getting sneek peeks at stuff first then it would go public so once again ITS NOT A BIG DEAL

sorry but winers **** me off

Why does it matter? It's called free enterprise. Brad owns this site and he can do whatever he wants with it. If you ask me, for all the money he is spending on keeping the bandwidth up for this site, he deserves some money. He's providing a service. In addition, have you ever thought about the time he spends just coordinating activities and maintaining this site? As a webmaster (yes I am 17), I understand the cost and responsibility that comes along wth running a site. I can't even imagine the costs of running this site. Regardless of however much it costs, if Brad doesn't wish to share his specific financial interests on his site, that is his right. He is not a corporation and is not bound by law to report his earnings. It's not like he is selling stock. You may feel that Brad has turned his back on the original ideal that this site was founded on, but what exactly was that ideal to begin with? It was to provide information on Mustangs to the general public. This is still offered, in my opinion. I am not a paid advocate for Brad. I feel Brad is a kind, honest, man of integrity and he wouldn't do something underhanded to earn a quick buck. I consider Brad to be a friendly alliance. (I hope the feeling is mutual.) This isn't looking through beer goggles.

Let me repeat, I believe that Brad is not running this site to make money. Brad is a true enthusiast and he just wants to keep this site alive. I don't like spending money. Nobody does. Somebody has to pay for it. Brad doesn't need to run this site. He could shut it down right now. So far the site has been paid out of pocket, for the most part. Brad doesn't even have annoying ads to pay the bills.

Thank you, Brad. I salute you for keeping this site alive. I don't own a Mustang, but I love coming here. I hope to own a Mustang someday, but if I don't, this site keeps the dream alive.

Hey folks,

Why don't we just ask Brad:

Do you need more funds to get this on a dedicated server?

How much? With monthly electric/maintenance/etc $$ included....

I'm sure he will be upfront with all of us. Right?

Then we split that amount up with the 100-150 '05 people here and we're set....

Or.... are we splitting this with all the other forum people? 1-3K people? (more?)

OK, then everyone that is a member ante up their part....

Not too hard if everyone follows some standard guidelines and is honest.....

That possible online today?

I'm not going to disclose the site's financial situation on the site, but the bottom line is the site will not be online at the expiration of the current contract in December without migrating to a dedicated server. Those "too many connections" errors you sometimes get are caused by the forums having more traffic than the current shared server can handle.

There are two current advertisers--UPR and PartShopper. The Mustang show ad is a donation from this site to my friends in the Mustang club 100 miles north. Forum member Mberglo is on the committee for that show.

There are expenses for running this business including business licenses, office machines, etc. I understand if some of you don't want to donate, but I certainly didn't want those that did to get nothing in return, at least immediately. Sure, you can wait for this commercial to come out on TV--after all, the resolution of the ad in the Super Stallions section isn't exactly DVD quality--but think of the video download as more of a "thank you" for your donation than an event which requires a cover charge. I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to those who have intillectually and financially supported this site. It's fun for me, but fun doesn't pay the bills.

Im not ignorant, steeda, as well as many other mustang parts producers would be more than happy to put banners up on this site for a charge. This site would sell more than ANY magazine ad.

I wouldn't go around bragging about that. I'm in the "business" and let me tell you from experience that you sir have no idea what Internet advertising sells for or on what basis.

Frankly it's none of your business what Brad does with funds from this site...

Just voicing my opinion too.....

You've got it all wrong. Brad pays for the server. Do you not understand that the server isn't free? There isn't some Server Fairy that just magically sprinkles dust on a domain and creates a server out of thin air. Brad is the only one who deserves money. Not you. Not me. Brad is the one who deserves the money. And the money is going towards paying for the server, I'm positive of it.

Regardless of how Brad spends the money, it is NONE of your business. He is NOT a corporation, meaning he is not bound by law to report neither his earnings nor business expenses. Not that his earnings would be significant anyways, once you figure in business overhead.

I'd like to stay friends with everyone here, but all of you need to think about this through a business perspective. Brad's site is a business. It is a non-profit business, but even that type needs money to run it! Do you think that non-profit organizations such as Public Broadcasting, the United Way, just get money out of thin air? No. They get it through donations.

Don't be offended. We're cool.

Just be kind, and keep things in perspective.

why
best first post ever. hands down.

for someone who's seen the teaser, tell us how cool it is.

i would definitely pay for a mustang source t-shirt or baseball cap. as long as the "www" and ".com" are small, cause URLs are nerdy.

think about it brad.
I just bought a metallica shirt off of a guy on the street after a concert, and i realized it was just printed on another shirt turned inside out. There's an idea to keep down the cost, buy out unsold shirts from concerts and wrestling matches, flip em inside out and print.

Sorry, I jumped to conclusions. I misread your site. Are you suggesting that more than just Brad bear the burden of server cost? Nevermind. I applaud that idea.

I truly can't believe there's an actual argument over this and Brad is having to be defended. To tell the truth, I could give a rip less if Brad got rich as heck of our donations to the site. Is this not America, the land of free enterprise? Starting to be reminded of some of my mooching friends w/ the way some of you are. I gave my money to him in appreciation for all he has done for us. And I will continue to help out as long as I can. W/O this site, a lot of us would be in the dark about the '05 and any other Mustang ever made. This is the first, and only, Mustang site I will ever give money to, b/c of the "air" I get from this site.

Web-sites are not cheap, and server space cost a good bit. I would be more than happy to know how much is needed and contribute to that. (Of course not publicly, cause that ain't ya'lls business )

But Brad....keep up the good work! This site is the best and I appreciate all that you have done and all the Mods have done....

And if you were in Texas Kevin, I'd love to buy a car from ya!

Brad, you need to get more sponsors. That's where the real dough is.

I agree that the commerical is a good incentive to join the special section for those who want it.

I think it is a great idea. I don't see what the big fuss is all about. All the information about almost any mustang is here for the picking. And for free. I'm in college now, and something that I have learned is that if you want good information, you need to pay.

If they wanted to charge for them that's ok with me. They don't have to take any pics if they don't want to.

To charge or not to charge, same old question. But something to think about, this is only a teaser and I guess costs $15, when a movie ticket is cheaper, and the quality is better (movie screen and THX).

Thought Brad has done an incredible job with this site, I remember way, way, way back in the day when this page was only 1 page with his Mustangs on it.

Sell some T-shirts for the site (stangnet has great ones), I'd buy one, others would too, plus it's bragging and advertising at the same time -- walking billboards for the site. Heck, contact FORD and get them to do a sponsorship, they are the REAL ones benefiting from this site: in fanbase and eventual sales.

I'm sorry but I think someone is getting too big for their Jeans. With all the others sharing vidoes and I my self have made offers to share what I have. I feel that charging to see a preview is bit presumptuous. C'mon Brad, share the Vid. )
