Don_W Needs Our Help

This is terrible, thankfully all of the forum members are safe and unharmed.
I'm paypaling a donation tonight when I get home.
Until this summer, I never contributed to things like this - until tragedy found my family a few months ago. Since then, I've donated hundreds of dollars to various coworkers, friends, and even strangers to help when these things happen. As we found out, $20 here, $10 there - that goes a long, long way. Even if you've never donated to something like this before, now is a good time to get started. You won't regret it!

I lost my home to a fire back in '89, so I know what you are going through. You and the rest of those in SoCal are in my thoughts and prayers.

We were able to get back to the property yesterday. We also went there for a while today. Here are a few pics I took which shows what it looks like.
This is what it looked like before 10/22/07
And now....
The Front Entrance...
All that is still standing...
Looking into the garage, then the den, then the kitchen...
Looking NorthEast
View from Backyard Hill

Neighboring Two Houses to the South
Neighboring House to the North
My Ford Bronco... the "Pit Truck"

Don - That really sucks!! I see your stang made it out though. Strange how all the houses across the street seem ok. The usual pattern I guess. Some in laws of mine in Poway had no damage at all.
Hang in there!!!

Wow...just...I don't know what to say but I'm sorry Don. My thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone else who lost out there. If this was an act of arson I hope they catch the bastard(s) that did this.
Thank god you and your family are OK.

As you all may know, on Monday morning there was extensive live TV (KUSI) coverage of the house burning (something like 20 to 30 minutes I’d guess), plus quite a bit of footage shown all day long. My son copied a lot of it off his DVR, and made us a DVD. Part of it was a 5-minute re-cap summary that KUSI aired Monday night. I have converted it and uploaded the file HERE. This file is about 30MB, so give it time to load… it may take a few minutes, but it’s worth it. You can also do a right click, save as if you prefer. They specifically talk about how the fire fighters initially had our house saved, but then an ember re-ignited it and they lost it the second time. Eventually, I will upload the full video of the house on fire.

+1 Very hard to look at. In knowing we are all sharing a hobby and enthuiasm here; and it makes sense we all thus have some common personality traits, I have to say how disheartening it is to look at the ruins. Don, You and Your Family have the support and prayers of many and your bravery in facing this head on is amazing. I can only hope that your loss right now will change, and come in the form of many blessings in the future.
