After all I have read about these systems, I think I'm getting the base radio and upgrading from somewhere else. Now to research what system to get.....

I agree, I have a new stereo sitting here ready to replace my shaker 500. I think it will last a day before it all comes out. Too bad they aren't worth anything on e-bay.

Due to the problems reported here, and the unwarranted high cost I passed on the Shaker and am planning on finding an aftermarket replacement.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a moderate priced replacement, nothing exotic, that would fit in the dash opening without extensive customization?
