If I am not mistaken, Delphi also makes the MyColor Instrument Cluster.
From the mill I have heard the only reason Delphi got the Shaker/6 disc Ford radio chassis contracts is that they underbid Visteon by a PILE of money per unit. Some people also thought it was to "get their foot in the door", so to speak. The rumour also has it that Delphi is out when the contract ends at the end of '07.
We shall see.....
We shall see.....
With all of the posts on the Shaker 500 and 1000, it no wonder they went Chapter 11. Make crap and ..... Feel sorry for the regular workers though. Whats next the French transmission??? Thank god for extended warrenties.
I think I heard they're filing Chapter 11. If so, don't worry - Ch 11 allows them to reorganize and relieve them of debt. They're a huge company and not going anywhere soon.

What does this mean for people on orders
I have both the Shaker 500
and My color instrument panel.

Things will continue as usuall, but with a lot more worker discontent. Untill the UAW decides to strike, then the Mexicans will fill the jobs. I doubt the Shaker is even made in the US, but
They only make the head units- Visteon is still responsible for the amplifiers and the door enclosures. The speakers, OTOH, are just 10 cent paper-coned junkers from Onkyo. Probably actually made by Vifa.
The good part of this is that maybe Ford will get a decent-qualitied manufacturer for the units. Delco, Matsupooa, or even Audiovox/Jensen would be a definite improvement. So far, mine has been trouble-free, but I'm in a minority I believe.

Maybe i lucked out with my S1000, i'm very happy with the sound. Of course the first thing i did, was replace the speakers under the back window. That made a heck of a difference. I replaced them with Boston Accoutics.

Are you saying everyone believes the Shakers are poor quality?

Me Three! No problems with mine either, and it's an earlier "A" version to boot.

Sound is good enough for now. Will upgrade later. Isn't Delfi also into the Sat Radio biz also...., or is that a different Delfi????
