DOB GT450 supercharger kit group buy

Hey, for all you guys who want to know "what's the best supercharger for my money" here's a pre-emptive post:

Check out DOB group buy at link:

http://departmentofboost.com/product..._group_buy.htm

In case you are not familiar -- DOB = "Department of Boost" and they sell a custom manifold plus key supporting parts to let you put a GT500 take-off blower on your 4.6 liter V8. Available "kits" range from just the manifold and key custom parts all the way to full turn-key (minus the tune.)

DOB is usually thought of as a great low cost option, but they are also a great high performance option -- they really focus on cooling which is key to real-world performance, the GT500 take-off blower is a very efficient match for our cars, and you self-select the parts so you can go with all the best stuff if you want.

Check it out!

LOL... are these guys legit? They have a "yahoo.com" email address, and no physical location, just the drop box in MI.

Not bashing them, just curious.

From the info I have ascertained, they are.

There are many guys currently running their intake adapter for the gt500 super chargers.

No one on this forum that I am aware of, but there are a few on the s197 forum.

They are totally legit. It is a small business that basically started off as a one man band making a single manifold. Then others wanted him to make them one and so on. His business has grown within the S197 community because he puts out a well tested and thought out product that no one else was willing to produce. He does a lot of research and testing on different set ups and is pretty knowledgeable on what works and doesn't work. He doesn't have a storefront and it started in his garage (probably) so he doesn't have anything but a home address which I'm sure he doesn't want out there. I haven't bought anything from him but know many that have. Everybody I know is more than happy with his business dealings. You can look him up on the S197 forum.

Yep Jason aka "sqidd" has been around these forums for a long time, there are quite a few threads about the manifold and kit on allfordmustangs and also the S197 forums. He actually advised me that his supercharger (or any supercharger) would NOT be the best mod for my road course car, that right there speaks volumes.

The big thing with these PD superchargers is heat; that can make or break the real-world performance of a supercharger. And Jason has put a lot of time and effort into the intercooler and cooling system; I do believe he has developed one of the best, if not THE best, cooling system.

From what I have read, his stuff is top-notch performance; though not the commercialized slick package that you might get from the likes of Roush. If you want the most economical and also best performing and most reliable positive displacement supercharger, and don't care about the big brand name or slick packaging, this seems like the way to go.

Too bad I have 118k... don't know if my engine would hold up.

Like it matters... I live in the People's Republic of Commiefornia, so I wouldn't be able to get a smog certificate anyhow.

Too bad... the extra grunt would be awesome!!!
