Did You Order or Take From Dealer Stock?
Ordered(of course I also sold it to myself). I was getting impatient and started looking for another one at the dealer, even thinking about giving up an option, exactly 0 in over 3000+ dealers searched. I also like having my name on the window sticker
I ordered since the dealer said they would still give me X-plan. So it was a no brainer to get exactly what I wanted. The deal killer for a stock sale was primarily spoiler delete. Mine is also a bit of a bastard since I loaded it up option wise but wanted the stock 17" Bullitts.
i was just about to order mine when i saw a dealer in NJ (fullerton) that had the EXACT car i wanted sitting on the lot. i raced over and ofcorse it was not there. talked to a salesman and he said the website updated it correctly but that it was on its way just not quite there yet.
only option i didnt get was the 18" polished rims but that was ok, i like the 17" bullet rims too.
i must have went to about 10 different dealers to finally find mine. AND 90% of them were automatic. finally i asked one of the salesman, "dont you guys stock up on manual GT's?". he said that they get so few manuals and noone wants the automatics. the only automatics they sell are the V6's because its mostly kids that buy them and they dont have a clue on how to drive stick.

Yes, we had to order ours. We went to two dealerships looking for a Mustang with the options we wanted. No way. Just requesting a 2007 Redfire Mustang GT Convertible with the Comfort Package option (we wanted the power passenger seat) was enough options to eliminate any Mustang in stock. Now I'm generally not a hard guy to please. When I buy a used car, I'll settle for what's available. But when I'm buying a new car, I don't want to settle. I want what I want.
Thats the only thing I kinda regret. I changed the comfort group to just heated seats to save the extra weight of a power passenger seat, then got back with my g/f right after the car came in-she's 5'-nothing I'll have to get something on the aluminum air bag cover so she has something to look at when we go out driving..Maybe an etch-a-sketch.
Ordered it
Figured that I had to order to get just what I wanted and for $30k (yeah, I'm cheap) I want what I want. GT, Vert, Manual, RED! Dealer said I had 2 chances to find one on a lot, slim and -- what was the other one? -- oh yeah, NONE.
Bought on the A-plan. Dad is retired Ford and had passed away about a couple of days earlier. I placed the order and called Ford the next day.
Thanks Dad! I'm lovin' it.
About 2 weeks after placing the order I see THE EXACT CAR in front of the local S'Buck coffee shop. So I'm thinking, "I may not look cool in that, but I'll dang sure think I do". Hadda stop and chat w/ the owner (owner's wife), of course, and she thought she looked cool in it.
It's about 17 mos old now and I feel as cool now as I did the first time.

I ordered mine because none of the dealers in my area had a GT in stock at the time. I put my order in without going for a test drive (all they had were v6's) and I waited, hoping that I wouldnt be disapppointed with the performance, then 3 1/2 months later I got the call. Went to go pick her up and drive her home, after that first drive all my doubts were gone
I ordered both of mine ('05 and '07) because I didn't want to get something (color, interior trim, etc.) that I didn't absolutely want. Of course, when the dealership screws up your order even after you give them all the option codes, you might still get something you didn't want.
But it's all good now.

ordered mine. I wanted to be able to specify quite a few things, and I also ordered before 07s really started showing on lots. With something like this, I wanted to be able to be as picky as I wanted, and it took 3 dealerships to get it done. Bit I couldn't be happier with the choice.
I ordered mine, it was when the 06's were just starting to be ordered and nobody had any 05's in stock. The only thing available was autos. I figured, by the time any manual 06's start trickling in, I would have to order one just to have a chance at finding a manual GT with all my options. I figured, I should just order it and have them build ME a car, rather than pick one out. Got exactly what I wanted and love every day of it!!
