Did You Order or Take From Dealer Stock?

Simple poll, no real reason either. Explain why you bought the way you did.

Well, both really. I ordered, after two months it didn't even have a build date so I had the dealer find me one. No regrets, got a great car.

Had to order. What I wanted wasn't on the lot anywhere except in Texas, and that one disappeared like ice on the sidewalk in July.

I wanted a spoiler delete Legend Lime car - checked all over the country and none were around, so I ordered it - 8 weeks later it was in. Of all the cars I bought over the last 25 years, only the four Honda's have been off the lot, mainly because they only come one way. All of the American cars, about 12, have been factory orders as none of the exact cars I wanted were ever in stock - maybe I'm just too picky?

I ordered - but when my dealer waffled about the car actually being built, I found one on a lot close to what I wanted - ended up paying 3K more and not getting X plan.

The car has 4 things that I did not originally order -

Shaker 500
Anti-theft
Side Air Bags
Upgrade wheels

2 years later I am glad I ended up with the car that I have. I finally got some bullit wheels too.

Mine was a bit of both. I ordered my mustang the way I wanted. But a few days later someones credit app fell through on one they had reserved at the dealership, exactly the same as the one i ordered. Dealer called me up and told me I could have it right away.

Dealer cars are sometimes like used cars, but sold at new car prices. They swap out parts to fix customer cars, or people test drive them. They sit out in the baking sun, freezing snow, get soaked in rain, and sometimes have bird poop etched into the paint from sitting under the sun for so long. Some guys with a pressure washer aren't going to have the time to properly wash the car and give it a good layer of protection.

One dealer tried to sell me a demo unit with 3,000 miles at a new car price. They knocked the price down from MSRP a little, but it was well above invoice (I didn't have the X-Plan at the time).

I've wanted a mustang for as long as I can remember so I decided that I would get it exactly the way I wanted. Ordered 2-15-07. Took delivery 3-23-07. That was the longest 5 weeks and one day of my life but the drive home that day made it worth it all.

1) I was ready to buy when the 2006 Order Banks opened, so there were no '06's to choose from.

2) I wanted a Pony model and Vista Blue, both new for 06, so an 05 would not work.

3) 1st new car in 20 years so I wanted it the way I wanted it.

4) I wanted side stripe delete and that pretty much put a lock on a special order.

I'm just picky... Nah, I wanted what I wanted, and I wanted an owner driven car. I don't need some punk "test driving" my car. Plus, isn't ordering just cool? Most people don't even know that you CAN order your car. When it comes to the Stang, I wouldn't do it any other way. This is my second time ordering. The first was a 2000 GT.

Of course I had to order.
"You want to see a convertible?" hahahahahaha!!!
"You want a convertible with spoiler delete?" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

Needless to say I ordered mine the way I wanted, since it would be FOREVER for a vert to be on the lot of either of the dealers in my area since they had just been introduced at the time.

Ordered in Oct 2004. I saw one on the showroom floor at lunch, went back to buy it 4 hrs later after work and it was gone, so I said fine order me one. Got it just the way I wanted, and didn't pay for stuff I didn't want. Finally showed up Jan. 8th 2005. IUP, Shaker500, bullitts, side air bags, active alarm with functional (still to this day) global window roll down, and all. Even my gas tank can still be tempermental to fill up.
