[QUOTE=PONY XPRESS,January 14, 2005, 12:48 PM]You may want to consider my fog lamp conversion that is listed in my sig. It makes a BIG difference & is good for the top speed of the Stang.

Tony (SixtySix),

Please forgive me for temporarily changing direction, ...but:

Frank (PONY XPRESS),

I had not noticed your referenced post before - but WOW, I SEE IT NOW !!!

I have placed the contents of that post on my to-do list for sure - just as soon as "T85, Clean and Unscheduled" arrives.

Thanks Loads

Not a problem! I like that conversion, even if I don't drive that road much, there's so much stuff going on even an active guy like me misses a few things

You guys are crazy. If a tire were to blow out at those speeds, better have your grave site chosen. The highways in the US aren't designed for safe high speed travel.

Lotsa reasons for wanting extra lighting capabilities besides speed.

Tony,

I wasn't looking for 140MPH trouble! If I want, I can always push the motorcycle (although that's even more scary). I'm always up for a ride!

I'm at 107th Ave and Lower Buckeye.

I take mine up to and over 140 alot.. but then again i am living in germany. The car handles great at autobahn speeds of 120+. The only thing i have noticed is some hood flap, meaning i notice hood doing a little bouncing when i get over 130..

The BFG's that 38 Special and Boss Hog have on theirs may be a quieter option.
I have raced a 97 caprice SS and was going around 130 mph. Man does the engine sound happy. I blew by it at 100 mph. Slowed. He blew by me at 100 mph. I accelerated past him up to around 130 mph. He pushed his ride but did not catch me before road conditions required us to slow down and behave.

I'll let you know how the tires sound at 140mph tomorrow. But there is very little noise from them at 130 mph so I doubt they will sound off at 140 mph.

Mine gets noisier after 80mph. It's defineatley the tires, but as I said previously it doesn't bother me much. Next time around I might try something different.

Wow, that's close! It's always strange to find people on global online forum that live close to you. It could be your stang that I see once in awhile. If you ever want to show it off, let me know. I'll come drool on it.

A littel update is in order, if you all don't mind.

I threw my Mom the keys yesterday and she actually did a little wringing out of her own. A little background if you dind't already know, The 66' I used to drive when I was a teenager was her daily driver for years, so she was pretty stoked about the new Stang too!

She actually lives real close to that "speedway" I took her on Wednesday night, and she headed straight for it yesterday!

When she felt comfortable with it, she let it loose and was amazed at how quick she was up to a 100mph. She was all smiles and had a lot of fun

The point of all of this for an update was the tire noise has suddenly decreased quite a bit now! I wondered why? and I looked at the tires and think I figured it out.

Nipples! no not those kind of nipples, the kind that come with every new tire, those little pieces/strands of rubber that stick straight out from the tread of the tire. Yesterday I noticed that they were just barely little nubs now, so I think my road noise could be attributed to dare I say..... hard nipples

I enjoyed reading about your 'night run'. I've got about two weeks before my ride gets here (it's on the truck to the railyard now) so your excellent description of your drive helped me with my current bout of DMF (Dreaded Mustang Fever). I've got a few places in mind to let my car 'feel it's oats' out in the flatlands west of the DFW area after it settles into my garage. Thanks...

For the person asking about the Shaker 1000...the reason the unit is double-din sized is because of the built in six-disc CD changer. I'm not sure, but I don't believe that any of the Shakers have a cassette player in them.

Hey Sixty-Six...

Sorry to hear about your problem with the hard nipples! You must not have been using the Instant Nipple-Remover Pedal enough! Apply generously for 5 seconds, rotate tires from front to back and apply generously for 5 more seconds. Problem solved!!! LOL
