Curious, what are your thoughts on the stock exhaust?
So good that I am keeping it after plans to replace prior to getting the car. Going to order exhaust tips to improve the appearance.

Was the Auto. Trans. in 4th or 5th on the way to 140 - and at cruise?
Did you happen to note RPM at 130+ in 4th or 5th?
Thanks,
- Ray

Nice to see another owner who drives his like he stole it.....I think I was the charter member of the 140+ club back in October....HAHA
Ahem.....you were saying about charter members? B)

Elle's first dance

Not long after that, a buddy and I did some high speed cruising at about 2:00 a.m. (he drives an E36 M3). Positively at him up from the trap and the roll, though at high speed dumps it was a drivers race (read: whoever got on it first) from about 105 to 135. As for our ponies, they feel incredibly buttoned down at 140+ (SixtySix, I didn't have much of tornado effect you mentioned....did you have a lot of crosswinds?)

I agree we could easily see 155-160 w/o the gov, but then again, who would want to go that fast

Glad you're breakin her in proper, Sixty!

I'm sticking with the stock exhaust too - perfect sound for the way I like my car - subdued rumble and then growls when you get on it....

I ordered the Ford exhaust tips and they just came in at my brother's place - putting them on tomorrow night!! (he says they look sweet)

And yeah, Tony's KILL STORY was one of the first threads that really got my attention after becoming a member of this site for only about a week or so. (What is your avatar by the way, Purple?...)

I haven't had mine over 125, but I can report that it's rock solid at that speed.

Only 115 here, and it got there a lot quicker than I was expecting. Just isn't a good/safe place to wring it out any more then that. Great write up.

Alas, my baby's in a deep winter sleep until 1 April (give or take). But I can already answer your question. The car will pull hard up to 125-130. Leave it in fourth much longer than that and it lays down (many folks shift a good 500-750 rpms under redline, which I will try in the spring). Once in fifth, it continues to pull fairly well (the wind resistance it nothing to snicker at at these speeds), but I can say for the record that the needle will not advance beyond the 145 notch (the last notch past the enumerated 140). Strangely, the gov. does not feel like bouncing off the rev limiter, which produces a pronounced "bogging" effect. The car simply stops pulling....

Any of you Master Tuning Gurus (Bryan, Swingle) know if the gov can be bypassed/disabled with a PCM flash? Sure would be nice to stretch her legs all the way (correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the pirelli's Z rated at 149+ ?)

Burke, avatar's a High Ordinator (google it, but beware of that game, it may take over your life someday....)

Nice review of the car. It's good to hear of something other than 'who has this problem?'.

Tony the dealer is going to c--p when they read your black box. I am glad to hear you speaking kindly about the auto as that is what I ordered in my second one. I never had the manual up to that speed but do know at 95 the ride is good but it had hood shake and it was not the wheels. Did yours have the shakes?

I noticed the unstability in the car above 120mph. The problem with our car is that the aerodynamics cause the front end to lift up instead of planting it down on the ground. Great for less drag, bad for handling. I think if someone would design a small splitter on the bottom of the front air dam, it would fix the problem. But it does have a lot left to go @ 120. :drive:

Very cool! I was always paranoid driving fast at night in Arizona. Those watch for Elk signs are what did it. Would hate to hit one of those at any significant speed. Or is that just in northern Arizona?
elk, yippee we have deer up here...........

150, why not? Always good for LT1 and LS1 racing. We race snowmobiles up here. 110 with 2 people and no helmets on the road is always fun....

Tony, you're alot more balsy in the speed dept. than me.....especially at night. There is no such thing as a 'Safe' open road..... that's what I call taking life or someone else's into your own hands. :notnice: Take it to the track.....

Touched the 135 mark w/ 600+ miles on mine...the scary part is that the car felt comfortable -no wobble, no shake... felt more like 80... the hood moves a little but so do ones on stock cars Can't wait 'til late Feb. to hit Cecil County -weather permiting
