A delay on Manuals?
Hey gussy8055: Well, our cars are going to have one more difference. This morning, after looking at those 18" Bullitts on that Torch Red GT vert, I called my dealer and had them change to the 64Ws! Fortunately, since I'm still U/C, it could be done without any problem. I like the fan blades, but the Bullitts are for me.
To ISELLFORD -- Ed, what does controlled commodity really mean? I ordered my GT premium coupe 5-speed manual on 9/24, got a "10" priority from my dealer here in central Maryland, but still have C & U status. Is it going to be a very long wait? By the way, all of your posts and responses have been excellent and very helpful!
Good for you Nomad my friend
, im glad you could still change your order and get it exactly the way you want her . I looked at that pic too and think the bullits are pretty awesome looking , but i still like the blades better . You can be sure that i will still post a pic as soon as i can , maybe you will change your mind back the otherway again
lol . You just gotta love the choices

Every week we get a report for all vehicle lines that have commodities that are on short supply. This varies by region [don't ask me how they decide which region gets what]. Last week in the Chicago region we had 36% GT availability which means that for every 100 Mustangs built, 36 could be GT's. There is also a shortage of both premium wheels which further lowers the mix ratio. Your priority code while important does not guarantee production. The same dealer coule have another GT with a 25 priority and a different transmission on no premium wheels and it could actually be built ahead of yours.
We have a similar problem on F250's with aluminum wheels and every so often we can not get a crew cab. You just never know. That is why it is critical for a sales manager to constantly monitor the commodities report and Dealer News bulletins.
Thanks, ISELLFORD (Ed). I guess patience is mandatory when you order what has to be Ford's hottest selling vehicle in years. Man, they absolutely hit a grand slam with this car! This will be my sixth Mustang but the first since the mid 80s. When my wife and I saw the pre-production prototype at the Baltimore Auto Show in February 2004, I knew I'd eventually have to get one. Although my first car (`64 Galaxie 500) and first new car (`78 Mustang II 2+2 with V8) were Fords, I've mostly been a GM guy. (The Nomad in my handle refers to my `56 Chevy Nomad wagon.) But Ford really nailed it this time, particularly for a boomer like me. I'm ready to have another Ford in my driveway even though my Chevy buddies will think I've gone over to the dark side!
Thanks, gussy. I don't think I've ever been as excited about buying a new car. This website really helps keep the adrenaline flowing. The information is terrific, the forum posts are entertaining and informative, and the photos enable you to see what your ordered car will look like without having to haunt the dealerships for something similar. Who knows? Maybe this new Mustang will be enough incentive for me to go after the one Mustang I've always lusted over but never had: `69 Mach I. Has to be one of the Ford's most beautiful cars of all time!
Good to hear it Nomad.
Hey "ISELLFORD." What did your commodities report on Friday say about Manuals for the week? My Sales Manager told me that as long as you're serialized, you should not be affected by commodities holds. Is that true?

Hey Stew: Last Thursday, 10/27, my GT 5-speed coupe was serialized AND scheduled to be built the week of November 21 (Thanksgiving week). So it seems as though the manual tranny delay may not be an issue any longer. NomadJack (fellow Marylander)

Thanks.
I ordered my V6 manual back on 17 Oct. I have no idea how to check on the status or anything, but does anyone think there will be a problem with it getting here by mid-December? That's the earliest I can pick it up anyway. Thanks.
