i just recently ordered an 06... well, a half hour ago to be exact and the sales manager said that there is some sort of delay in manuals and that only 15 out of 100 mustangs are manuals... Thats alot of auto's being built. He said that i shouldnt expect my mustang until feb. (thats ok by me, i'd rather get it going into the spring anyway) Has anyone else heard anything like that, because this guy cant be blowing smoke up my (you know), he's a friend of the family so he isnt going to toy with me... btw there is only 3 ahead of me and the ones ahead of me are auto's... let me know what your guys/girls have heard...

He may be a friend of the family but that doesn't mean he wasn't given false information. I know I have not heard anything about a "manual" transmission shortage. There is a good chance that this is just another "production issue" rumour.

I had heard something similar about the Manuals. I was told there isn't a shortage but a dealer will get Automatics faster then they get manuals, for what ever reason.

From what I understand, it's not that there is a commodity hold on manuals, it's that dealers get an allocation of options and they get a lot more automatic allocations than manual. Because of that, it may take longer to get a manual.

May dealer said that there is parts shortage being that the end of "job one" is oct 28. But he did say that if it were a automatic I would have been pulled last week. Ordering in Oct and getting it in Feb thats not bad considering I ordered on June 4 and still don't have a build date.

Sorry for asking the stupid question, but I must. What does end of "job one" mean anyway? Is that just when production shuts down for so long and then goes into "job 2"? Now please don't laugh.
Thanks

My dealer explained this as like an ordering cycle. They tend to run out of things at the end of these Jobs. As far as a shut down the dealer didn't say anything. He did say that on oct 31 he should be able to get options that had a supply issue the before ex. He has not been able to get a Mustang GT pulled with a manual Trans in 3 weeks, He says that the week of the 31 it should be no problem. This is what I was told I don't no weather to belive it or not

Joey, yes the 5-speeds are on short supply right now. If anyone were to order an auto, it will get pulled pretty quick. I have a customer who ordered an Auto GT "vert, and I told him it probably won't be here till the new year (he ordered it in July, and we had 7 inhead of him). We put a 19 priority # on it, and in the middle of September, they pulled it for production (WITH A 19 PRIORITY!). This is all because it was an automatic, as they can be built quicker. Don't worry, it will get all squared away.

I don't know why people make such a big deal about priority numbers. A 19 at your dealership can be better than a 19 at another. Priority numbers are only important when comparing them to other priority numbers from the same dealership.

I understand what your saying Leon, but his 19 was built over cars with a 10, 11, 12, 13,, 14 and 15. We had a high # on it as he really didn't want the car till the new year anyway. It was built all because it was an automatic, not a manual. That is what I was trying to explain.

I ordered August 28th, vert with a stick, already built, should have it within two weeks.

Ed has explained this before as region based. Southeast seems lucky in this regard.

I'm new to the forum although I've been following a lot of the chat. On Saturday, September 24, I finally ordered my car: a Premium GT coupe, 5-spd manual, Torch Red, IUP, red accent interior package, side air bags, active anti-theft, wheel locks and 64E fan blade wheels. My dealer here in central Maryland gave me a "10" priority code, but as of today (Friday, 10/21), I'm still "clean and unscheduled." (DORA received by dealer on 9/30.) The sales manager also told me she had a bulletin or other communique indicating a higher than anticipated demand for manual transmission GTs, causing a possible delay in production. Also, demand for the 64E wheels appears high. So while I was originally hoping to have my car by Thanksgiving, it might be Santa who delivers it!

Well just ordered two weeks ago an automatic gt with the 64e wheels, iup, icap, and has already been serialized. so there may be some truth to the auto's over the manuals. I hope everyone gets there car soon.

Well you will not believe this, but after typing here, I went to ERL, and now has a build date of november 7th. Someone up there is looking over me right now. Man oh man I cant believe it is actually happening this quick this time. It took 4 and half months for my 05.

You have good taste Nomad , sounds like mine to a tee except i passed on the side air bags and active anti theft . I ordered mine on 8/02 and she was finally built last tues. Its a hard wait but hey it will be worth it , i wouldnt own anything but a manual in a stang . Oh and dont hold your breath when ford gives you a delevery eta , they said today for me and she was a no show . I know delevery eta is usually the week of and not the day of but why list a sat and not a monday ?I figured that 4 days from production to delivery was expecting allot , but hey i could dream right

I am in no rush to get the car really... I can handle the wait no problem, so i am going to definately get exactly what i want instead of just settling for the auto to get my car sooner... and what is the DORA? will my dealer call me when they get it? They did say that they would call me when they got the VIN...

gussy8055 -- please post photos of your car as soon as it's in your possession. It'll help me to endure the wait knowing what mine will look like! By the way, I was originally thinking of the 64Ws instead of the 64Es, but decided to go with the fan blades after I saw a Performance White GT coupe with these wheels in another dealer's showroom. When you see them in person, they're great looking wheels (most of the photos posted on the website don't do them full justice). Having said that, when I got to the site this evening, the first thing I see is that Torch Red GT convert with the 64W Bullits. They're gorgeous!! Anyone who held out for those wheels will be thrilled.

I am getting ready to order a new Mustang and the dealer I am currently working with just informed me that Ford is no longer producing 5-speed manual transmisions.

He said there is some kind of problem with the manuals and that Ford will not be producing any for at least 3 months.

I am already calling - but I wanted to check with my Mustang Source brothers to see if they heard anything along these lines.

I'm figuring he wants me to buy one of the autos he has on his lot instead of ordering what I want.

Tell me what you guys think.

Thanks,
A-rex

According to our latest Dealer news Bulletin dates 10/21 [comes out every Friday], the GT manual trans shows MED as a commodity which means that it is a controlled commodity. In the Chicago Region for last week the take rate for GT manual trans was 28%. We have not gotten our commodities for this week yet but i would assume that they would be the same or a little less as we are at the last week for this allocation period.
