I find that, once at speed, I can simply place the beverage container in front of my mouth. The raw force of acceleration holds it there. I need only briefly tip my head back between shifts for a quick swig.

Sure do wish a G-suit was optional though.

Unfortunately, the cupholders can't go any deeper. The rear cupholder is only about a half inch above the driveshaft. The front cupholder can't be any deeper because the black strip around the autoshift **** slides underneath the front cupholder when you're in D, 2 or 1.

Separate cupholders for the auto and manual would have required two different consoles and drove the price of the car up. The cupholders are as big as they can be with the space alloted by the 300hp engine, solid axle, and 19K V6 and 25K GT price tag.

I am told the shifter position and armrest position was deemed more important than the cupholders. Would you agree?

LOL at the original poster. And BTW, I totally agree. Even with the false bottom out, I wish the rear cupholder was just an inch or so deeper.

Oddly enough I found the cupholder depth has made me upgrade from medium coffees to large. If you put a medium coffee in the holder it pops the lid off and drops. At 15cents per cofee, five times a day, 365 days a year, the cupholder has now cost me an additional $272.00 a year. Jeeze, how much am I spending a year on coffee??!!!

If you are drinking 228 gallons of coffee per year (16oz coffee x 5 times/day x 365 days/year), you probably are going to have more serious problems to worry about. Besides any health issues, you are spending approximately (90 cents x 5 large cups, x 365 days) $1642 on coffee (just what you drink in your car) per year.

You're spending more on coffee than on gasoline per year

Yes I know your post was in jest. So was mine.

Yes, but how do you know what you said to be true? Thanks.

After owning Fords since college, and spending 4 years of my life selling Fords, I'm convinced that it is beyond the capabilities of their engineers to design decent cupholders.
