Remove plastic covers, check fluids, fill w/ gas, clean exterior, clean interior, road test... etc.
Is there something specific you want to know?
The car's fully assembled if that's what your asking. The only exception that I know if is that they may need to put on center caps or locking lugs.

Do they wash, wax, and detail it in addition to the removal of all plastic and such ?

Hey Toby ask if you can go on the PDI roadtest. I did and dealer said he would set it up.....don't even want the mechanic test driving it to rag on mine

They technically was a car before it is delivered. But they do a pretty crummy job at my dealership. When I got my 05 it had a ton of Armor All on the fenders and doors. And when they washed it, it wasn't hand dried, so there were spots all over it. I took it home and washed it myself before I did anything else.

I went in and paid for the Mustang today. The salesman advised that it could not be released to me until if had a PDI which was fine with me. However what got to me was the sharks at the dealership and by sharks I mean the finance people. After paying over $28,800 for the car which includes the tax they then tried to soak me for paint protection. When I told the sharks I was getting it done somewhere else next Wednesday that specializes in car coatings they were quite peeved. After that they tried to sell me a new program Ford is offering for $1500.00 for four years which is essentially guaranteed oil changes and radiator hoses, belts if they are ever needed. I advised the sharks that as I have a business an oil change and whatever else might be needed in the future is a business expense. One thing that did **** me off totally was a paper work administration fee (documentation fee) of $419.00 essentially this is a fee to provide a N.V.I.S. New Vehicle Information Statement to the Province of Alberta. The sales staff where fine but the dealership credit sharks were another matter.

I do this all the time at my work, Lincoln-Mercury dealer. Test drive for any noises, centering of wheel, etc. Check all lights, radio, climate control, safety items, etc. Usually the antenna, wheel locks, floor mats, center caps, liscence plate bracket, etc. are all shipped loose and are in the trunk of the car, so that stuff all needs to be put on.

If your PDI is anything like mine, it means they scratch the drivers door, nick the steering wheel plastic piece, put swirlmarks all over the paint, and then leave half of the plastic on the seats and dash before giving you the car keys.

It has been said here before a million times, let me say it again. Go over your car WITH A FINE TOOTHED COMB. I did, and I still missed the paint chip in the drivers door. :bang:
