I need some advice here. As you can see from my signature my car is getting built next week, and this is all info from ERL.

I haven't asked my dealer for any updates so far as he told me he would contact me in a month after the order.

Today is "a month", so I ask him what's the status, knowing the answer.

He comes back to me telling me the car is C/U

What the heck!?

What would you guys do?

I dont want to **** him off by telling him I got all the info in his back anyway :-(. For instance when I ordered I asked him for his dealer code and he did not give it to me. Of course I got it anyway from another customer and it's actually barely hidden on the DORA.

I need strategic advice here

I won't rest until I sort this out, I already had to cancel my first order...

I'd go with ERL. I'm in a similar situation where ERL tells me I'm now at the ramp and should be in next week. My dealer tells me it should be in on the 15th. But he also said tht he wouldn't be suprised if it came in earlier. So I think he's just padding the date so he can make sure its there and checked out OK before getting my hopes up. Maybe your dealer is doing the same thing.

Remember, your dealer probably has no idea you have knowledge of the ERL number. Maybe he just hasn't checked recently, like he told you. I'd trust ERL more than I'd trust a dealer. (no offense Ed). You can always confront him with the information..its not like the ERL number is illegal or anything. You should take advantage of this information.

Good luck.

Hey Manu,

What's up? I am sorry to hear about your disconnect with Mr. M. I am wondeing what's going on with my order as well. I have been C/U since late June and I am suppose to get my GT this month. I have started to look at other dealers. I am tired of not knowing what's going on.

Mike

Manu, I notice you're from the Bay Area, which dealer are you using? Maybe last time he checked it was clean and unscheduled. Try to ask for the VIN# and say you need it for insurance quotes (which you will need to do eventually). I haven't talked to my dealer in over a month, thanks to ERL. I'm going to call him on tuesday though, to get my VIN#. I probably know more than my dealer right now.

Looks like our Mustangs might be on the same train coming to the Bay Area.

What worries me is he says I'm C/U as of last thursday.

So I was going to ask him to check again today but this would not change anything:

Either he's not telling the truth, and this won't change.
Or he checked the wrong car but then he woud not check again knowing one gets out of C/U on thursdays only.

Hi Mike,

I ended up confronting him with my info. I pretended a friend's wife worked for Ford and offered to check the status for me...

Anyway within an hour he calls me back saying he checked personally and he now confirms the car is getting built next week.

SWEEEEET!

Today's my birthday, and boy I'm glad we sorted this out, this made my day

He's telling me from his experience convertibles get "built" much faster, he received one last week that was ordered in June.

I think it's only healthy that you look around for other solutions, just don't give up completely on our friend. I'd say worst case you get scheduled within a month (but I hope sooner), and you get your car within 2-3 months. But definitely if he told you September and if it is still C/U I don't see how it will happen this month. Next month is possible though.

Thanks to all who replied!

Manu.

I sure hope so. Nice color choice: I like the satin silver in vert, and I think the pony package and the stripe removal will make it look awesome!

As of today arrival at dealership is estimated on week 09/28. Boo, last week it said 09/22. Oh well...
