Apologies in advance if the following offends animal lovers.

If you don't have any pets, a poison bait like D-con works wonders.
We used to use it in the cable rooms on remote sites. Little buggers just love insulation for some reason.

I have only had the car 1 week...I back out of the garage today and see some stuff on the floor, I walk over and see shiney metal and fiberglass shreads...and a mouse dropping, I open the hood and look around and find the varmint has chewed the heat shielding off the power steering hose at the left rear of the engine bay and also chewed the brake resevoir and the cap up   , I have never had rodent problems in this garage, the Shelby and 3 Harleys have been in there for some time now without a hint of trouble!

What is it with these new Mustangs that seem to attract misfortune, lol

I made a trip to the hardware store and loaded up on some anti mouse arsenal, we will see what happens in the morning...grrrr
I personally would say the sticky traps work the best...had the same problem (though they were not interested in my GT) and now my garage is basically a mine field for mice: sticky traps (they work real good) and lots of poison here and there...
But the best is not to leave the garage door open too much, in my case just the time needed to get the car in/out and get the garbage cans in/out: from the moment I enforced this rule, no mice anymore...

I heard once about a guy who'd recently put a thick lacquer or something down on his garage floor. Came in the next day and saw little foot prints in it. Following them, he soon came to a mouse, still alive, with feet embedded in the floor. I assume the feet are still there...

I plugged in an electronic rodent repeller in a wall outlet near my car. Has been working since the first weekend of November and no mice in the garage yet. Normally we have tons of mice by now.

Lennyb44, I say we should send all our mice to the "animal lovers" houses

Yes electronic rodent repellers work awesome. My parents bought a set of them at Sams Club and their house has been mouse free ever since.

Thats a good idea. We had the same problem with a Chevrolet Tahoe. I blamed it on that mice don't like Fords. I guess the original posters story proves this theory wrong.
I suppose I should be getting some of those too.

Does this repell dogs too? My dog sleeps in the garage on rainy days.

Only if it's a Rat Terrier.

Two winters ago on my wifes old Explorer, we had one chew through the heat ducting.

Haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood).

Last spring I found a dead mouse all dried out cuddling on my engine block, it was pretty funny

unless you have pets you care about... leaving antifreeze in a small open container (the cap for instance) is a tasty and poisonous drink for them.

They claim the frequency range it generates only effects rodents. It will not harm dogs or cats, however if you have a hamster, gerbil or gineapig, don't install one in that room. Now, for all the sick people out there, don't go out and buy one thinking it will be a great "trick" to play on someone's pet or to test on your own.

The sound will not hurt them. It annoys the heck out of them. So if you already have mice, within a day or 2 of plugging one of these devices in the room, the mice will leave the area. Since these are just a speaker generating a sound wave they cannot go through walls, etc, so they only work in the room where you have plugged it in.

hey I like the sound repellant idea

this morning I went out and checked the traps, I had set some small mouse traps and some larger rat traps just to cover all the bases...well, when I looked in the corner where I put the traps there was the small trap under the wire of the BIG trap...and all the peanut butter was gone!, I cant explain that one at all, smart suburban mice I guess, the other traps were sprung as well...and no bodies!

A friend suggested a saucer of cola, seems the rodents drink it an there systems dont allow them to "pass gas", they bloat all up and croak...so they say

I went to install my JLT intake yeseterday and made a discovery. I removed the stock air cleaner and in the intake housing I found about 50 rat poison pellets. They came from a small package I placed in the back of my garage months ago. Little sucker hauled them from the back of the garage up into my mustang air cleaner housing. Poor engine has been sucking in poisonous fumes for who knows how long. Wonder how many horsepower that caused me?

Careful cuz the cola will attract roaches
