I was wondering if anyone knew how the cylinders are numbered on the V8s. Are they 1-4 on the passenger side and 5-8 on the drivers. Or is it odds on the passenger and even on the driver. Future mod to be had here but I want to get it right.

Chevy staggers the cylinders back and forth, Ford has always been 1-4 on the passenger side, and 5-8 on the driver's side. The way to tell which cylinder is number 1 on any motor is the one that is farthest forward.
here's a link that shows the late model Ford motors.

Thanks Clint, been along time since I did any serious engine work on a car. Couldn't remember which was which. Some of us have owned just about everything under the sun.

no problem.
I've only ever owned Fords.... but I have built a Chrysler 360, and I know that is darn near identical to a GM 350. But, yeah... I'm not affraid to talk to bowtie guys, and keep an open mind... I like to learn what I can.
