Those side-by-side pictures really tell the story. And for me, it sets the attitude of the whole car. Does Ford want it to be a more refined car with a refined engine, one that would bring pride to the Ford badge, or is Ford just trying to throw something together to get the job done? Show me you're dedicated to the car, Ford, and cover that intake.
Hey now , the SVT version has to be TOTALLY SWEET so they are going to have to take that cover. Oh and any decent suspension , oh and theyre also going to need the best wheel choices. BUT DONT WORRY ; the SVT version will be totally unique and special, youre not buying an SVT version , well to fing bad.

Also- Death of SVT Focus.

Sorry, but I had to comment on this subject.

I have personally observed the 05 with and without the cover.

My first thought when I saw the engine WITHOUT the cover was......
What is this? A cheap piece of plastic for an intake? Thought of melting plastic running thru my head.... preceded by.... Do I really want a high performance engine that is dependent on a piece of plastic?

My first thought when I saw the engine WITH the cover was......

OH SWEET!!! (followed by the wiping of drool from my face) This is going to be mine! (Long pause dreaming of all good Mustang things ) I cant wait to show everyone my engine. B)
The way the engine looked spoke these words to me:
"I'm strong, I'm proud, I'm a MUSTANG!!
This is the same effect that an aluminum wing has for honda owners. Its still the same darn engine silly. Thermoplatic is MUCH smoother then cast aluminum parts and even lighter. Unless you spray, there is nothing to worry about with a plastic intake.

I DID vote for the cover, I could just care less either way.

The cover looks like it belongs there Ford so leave it there, gives the car a little personality under the hood to go with the outside.

Don't worried the in take cover will be the production on Mustang GTs what Keth told me from Team Mustang yesterday in Cinn.
What Keith said to me was that it could POSSIBLY be done...perhaps by Ford Racing. The more people use this poll (thanks to the originator), the more the "voice of the customer" will be heard.

Vote away please!!

Cost cannot be a factor on this one ..... That can't be more than a $5 - $10 part to be made AT the most.

What about it Ford ....... Put it on there !!!

If you look at the cover in respect to the rest of the engine bay, it looks seriously out of place. Nothing in the engine bay is shiny, the color of the intake cover, or even close in shape. Look where the air intake meets the cover. Not a real smooth transition. It's a nice piece alone, but on the motor it seems like they are just " throwing something together to get the job done." Putting a cover to dress up the engine is silly. I think if they did a better job making the other parts to the engine look more attractive, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Yah definitely. I don't like the look of the engine neither. Focus engines look way nicer for example.

I agree, but compared to what I'm used to now, see pic below..., the cover is a big improvement -w/o, I beleive the Jeeps engine bay is better (Power aside).

Please excuse the mess...

i think it has to do with the fact that Ford AU builds all their engines by hand and that they love to have their engines stand out of the rest down there. Which kinda leads me to believe more and more that Ford North America just perfers to cheaping out on everything last minute. As we all know thats exactly what Ford has been doing here for the last 30 years.

Edit: And for a side note I've always loved the Boss 290 and Boss 280 that they use in the Falcons down there. I've also wondered why they don't make a special edition and use the Boss 290 in it... *cough* Boss 290 Mustang *cough*

I like the cover alot, but I think if the engine bay was nicley cleaned up and tidied it would look nice when you popped open the hood. Some new valve covers can help alot too.

Definitely needs the cover to clean up the top of the engine. Kind of looks like my sons hair first thing in the morning (and mine for that matter). Its needs a nice hat to smooth it out and clean up the look.

Also it appears to be easily removed (4 fasteners) for detailing

the Pony leaves no doubt that thoroughbred power lies beneath!
