Well, this is my first post on here. Ive enjoyed reading all of your posts. Ive got tons of questions and im quickly becoming very picky about what I want. We'll see...i'm planning on walking into the dealership to start the process on my GT in June.....maybe by then, they'll have some of the post production issues worked out and i'll have an even better down payment for my x-plan car. till then, i'll be on this site drooling over all of your pictures and nagging you all for information.

I haven't had a mustang since high-school, and that was an '85 GT 5.0 which i have the fondest memories of.

Are you targeting an 05 or 06? What options do you plan on getting on your GT?

It will give you time to check various insurance and finance/credit report options in the meantime. It is going to be a long wait especially lurking around this site and seeing all the pics and mod's from owners of the Mustang! I know about this because I am going thru the "pains" everyday!

What particular questions do you have?

If you want an 06 you'll have to wait until after October. That is what I'll personally be doing. I'm targeting November or December of 2005.

Hrm, if it were me, I'd do one of two things.

1.) Wait until the 06 is out, or very near out to get a smoking deal on an 05 or most likely,

2.) Just wait to score an 06.

Brian,
Since you're buying in June, check out the post in the sticky section about the 2005 Pony Drive. You get an opportunity to watch your Mustang's "birth", a chance to customize it, and a bunch of fellow Mustang enthusiasts to share in your excitement. I am eagerly awaiting details on this event so I can decide whether I wish to join in, but it's definately got my interest!

Oh boy, where to start.....

The car i am going to get..... the '05 GT Deluxe...NOT the premium. I couldn't care less for leather seats or the 1000 shaker system. I could also live without 250 color combinations for my dash board. I wan a simple GT, plus it keeps the costs down.... I may cave in eventually before i go to the dealer and order the leather seats though. Standard Bullitt rims too, not those god aweful new chrome jobs Ford has been advertising.

As far as questions...

First, i have read a lot about some of the problems that people have been having.. I know that Mustang has had a hard histiry with first year production models. Everytime they come out with a new model, the first year is usually plagued with issues. What can I expect to have wrong with my new '05?

Colors? My biggest question is how to obtain the racing stripes that have been seen on that silver stang at the shows. It seems just WRONG for Ford to display the car without having those stripes as an option! Will the dealerships ever offer those stripes as options, getting rid of those lousy narrow stripes that end at the hood?

Plus, the color combos i just cant figure out....I am a firm believer that a BLACK mustang GT is the only color for that car (for me personally), but what color stripes. Ive seen Mikes car, and its awesome, but i would definitely want something of my own choosing, unique to me! I saw a magazine article many months ago with a sonic blue GT with the full stripes that were a very light gray! it looked sweet but i cant seem to steer myself away from a black stang!?!?! :bang:

Do you all think that some of the problems that new owners are having will be ironed out by June?

Do you think Ford will catch up with orders and have more GT's on the lots by then?

Is someone willing to lend me there GT for a weekend of burnouts, lots of drooling and maybe even a few speeding tickets???? I didn'e think so, but it never hurts to ask

Has anyone looked into the aftermarket hood-scoop? does it look good?

How about aftermarket sun-roofs?

New owners...Feel free to post exactly how your new GT feels, one so I can learn more about the car, and two so i can secretly envy your guts and poke at your voodoo doll! :worship: Just kidding.

Those are just a few of my questions... I really look forward to reading any responses you all may have. I'll be on this board frequently, and never hesitate to email me.

Thanks

Brian

u got a long way to go soo if i were u i would kick back and relax. these problems r common with every car. go to the hondatech forums. those poor kids r crying cuz their alternators r going like hotcakes. people say american cars r bad then what exactly do u consider a japanese car?? these problems r sooooooo common its rediculous. the 1 car u could buy and not have a problem with is the GEO METRO cuz is a 3 cyl engine with a body, steering wheel, and an am/fm radio with some seats. nothing else. a lawnmower on wheels. just check back with these forums and see wat the common probs r over the months. good luck man

Yeah, thanks... Im pretty relaxed though. Im really enjoying thinking about all this stuff. I'll get mine eventually, and even if there are problems with it once i get it, its nothing the dealer wont have corrected.

My mustang watch is up to 5 cars... I've seen 1 yellow, 1 white, 1 black and 1 red GT, plus a few V6's around town, but that is all so far. My chiropractor is loving all of my visits suffering from neck pain everytime one goes by...but really, im relaxed!

The stripes on that show car were painted on, and it was exactly that.... a show car. There have been a few owners that post on this site that have had stripes put on, and it seams that the least expensive way to do it is to have vinyl strips put on.... if you search, you'll be able to find a referrence for one dude that sells them in any color..... I'd look it up, but I'm leaving work and gotta run. He recommends, as would I, having them professionally installed. Do a search though, and I'm sure you'll find it.... otherwise, check your local body shops.... see if any of them do vinyl and hook it up.... this guy that has been mentioned will hook you up for under $400. Good luck.... when you get there. I'm in the same boat.... I was gonna wait for the '06... and now I'm considering waiting for the Mach 1.... or whatever SE comes out.
