Quick Question. If one has a convertible ordered, and it is built in mid-Feb., will they hold that car at the factory and start sending them all out at the same time in Spring, or will they let them start trickling out as soon as they are completed? If the latter is the case, it seems possible some could get they verts at the very end of Feb.

We may see them hold the first one's an extra week for quality inspection, but I've got my fingers crossed that mine will be here by the first couple weeks of March. (build day = 2/14)

On February 15, I ordered a Mustang GT convertible, Manual, Torch Red, Dark Charcoal Premium interior, IUP, side airbags, wheel upgrade, active security system, locking wheels, and the convertible boot. This is the first time I have ever ordered a new car, so I really don't know what kind of tricks to look out for. My dealer has sent me a confirmation of the order dated 2/15. He told me his next "pull date" was in 2-3 weeks after the order. He told me it should be in mid to late May. A few questions:
1. Is there still a delay on the IUP?
2. Is there any way to make sure that another order -- say someone who is paying more than I am -- doesn't get put in front of mine?
3. Is there any continuing paperwork that i should be receiving or asking for?
Thanks for any help.

1. Nope.
2. Make sure you get priority 10 on your order or have the highest convertible priority at that dealership. 10 is the highest a dealer can give, where 99 is the lowest.
3. Get a copy of your order from their "concepts" system. It will have all the info that you need to call the automated 800 number (search for the number). A DORA wouldn't be a bad idea either, although I never got one.
Good Luck!!

Thanks for the reply.
The order form he gave me is a computer printout, but I'm not sure if it is from the concepts system. It shows a priority 10, so I guess that is good.
What is a DORA?

Demand your DORA from the dealer! There is noreason he can't provide that to you. The problem is ALLOCATION. I called the day my dealer was provided an allocation for a Convertible. It was purely dumb luck but I got the allocation. If I did not get the allocation I still could order one but when Ford will be able to provide one to the dealer will be AFTER they fill the existing allocations provided. Finding a dealer with an allocation is the key but the dealers with the actual allocation are not going to give it to you at or under MSRP unless you are one very lucky SOB.

My dealer had 4 verts - two GTs and two V6s. Both GTs are gone. One lasted 4 hours. The V6s are Redfire and Satin Silver, premiums, NO IUP. If you are close, call Andy Jackson at Capital Ford, Raleigh, NC. 919 790 4600.

My dealer called and said that on March 24 Ford assigned a VIN and a scheduled build date of April 18. My demand is so pent up, that I don't care that the 18th is a Monday.
