It's easy to get the right price, if you have your partner code (the one you use to generate your pin). Go to fordpartner.com, put in your code, and after that you'll have a cookie that will recognize you as an xplan buyer when you go to forddirect.com. Go there, build the mustang you're looking at, and the xplan price should come up. Or if not, you should be able to find a similarly optioned vehicle on there, and you'll have the xplan price. Good luck

K I tried it...invoice is around 27600, so xplan should be in that ballpark...unfortunately I can't find a similar car to compare the price.

Even the couple of times I did a brisk acceleration (about 3/4 throttle) from a stop, the Auto shifted crisp and firm. I'm wondering how firm it is at full throttle? Will it chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift when floored?

From what I've read, this new auto (on the average) does NOT absorb nearly the horsepower as the old auto's did. ET's prove it - the advantage at the strip of not having to worry about missing a shift or even losing time making a good shift has gotten even bigger with this new auto it seems.

Still, the 'Fun-Factor' of a stick is a good selling point too. I'm going to go drive the manual car again this afternoon and see how I feel about it having just driven the auto last evening.
I have floored it a number of times since I've had it (going on a month now) and it does not chirp the tires when it shifts to second. That would be something. But, the automatic gives you just the right amount when shifting. Not enough to chirp the tires, but enough to get you going... and fast.

I agree - I finally got a chance to round everything up and it came out with an invoice of $27,569. So, X-Plan should be about $27,400 or so.

They're definitely adding in some extra bucks - about $1000 dollars it seems. :bang:

Thanks for the info and advice.

Hey, Steve -

Which did you end up selecting?

The more I see of the sonic blue, the better I like it!

IMho I think the auto would save you alot on gas and rubber. Also you don't have to worry about those embarrassing 2nd gear shifts where the back end literally tells that Ricer he's been beat. Honestly though, I thinks its personal preference. I've had to relearn rear wheel drive all over again in the past 2 weeks, and if I had to throw relearning an auto tranny in to the mix I wouldn't be having the fun I'm having now!

The x-plan price is printed on the invoice. Ask to see the invoice and you'll see how much he's adding to the price.

Well, I'm still leaning toward the Sonic Blue but there's a dealer about 40 miles away that has a black GT in stock (there is a hold on it though) and a Mineral grey coming in. I'm going down today (Tuesday) to look at the Black one.

As far as the Sonic/Auto goes, the dealer is not willing to deduct off the "paint and fabric protection package". However, he IS willing to sell it at X-plan price versus most other dealers that want MSRP.

I'll probably decide very soon!

A dealer can't add stuff to an x plan car without your approval. Ford dictates this. Since they already put it on this car, you are stuck paying for it. I would tell them about the black one and say "They will sell me x-plan on it (the black one) with nothing added" If they really want to sell you the Blue car then maybe you can compromise and split the difference with them. Decide what you will do if they won't budge on the Blue one before tossing the info at them. Use the dealer with the Black car as leverage. Good luck! but get the one you really want Steve!

I've had my auto GT for a week and still can't believe how well it shifts. Depending on how far into the firewall your foot is, it seems to shift just when you would. And it does it much faster. I will probably save a lot on tires and gas, but still have the power when I need it.

I'm glad to hear the good new about the auto and that everyone who has it seems to like it. My dad wants an auto GT but was afraid of it not being a "real" mustang as well...I can let him know he will be on par with my stick...B)

(yes i know he will probably be me in straight line performance, but he doesn't need to know that )

After putting 500+ miles on my auto I couldn't be happier with my decision. A couple stints in heavy traffic reminded me how I no longer miss the stick in my truck, and I haven't missed the stick yet when it comes to driving on the back roads.

I have an auto -- actually identical to the one you're looking at. I LOVE it!! You know the movie Gone in 60 Seconds -- the Go Baby Go button? I swear there is one of those buttons in the accelerator pedal. She really moves. Now I have 2 70# bags of sand in the trunk for winter driving as needed, and she still has good pick up.

Oh, BTW, over 4,000 miles on her now and I picked her up 10/22/04.

Well, the sonic blue auto was sold the next day by some guy who paid sticker for it. It was definitely a gorgeous car! Anyhow, that helped me decide about that one.

However, I would definitely consider buying the automatic now. I've seen every color in person other than the Screaming Yellow (which I HAVE seen on '04's and think it is gorgeous). I did see the Yellow on two '05's that were going the opposite way while still on the transporters and was VERY impressed with it so I want to see it up close.

But manual or automatic? Either one, baby... either one.

Mtang78 - about time to change that avatar, isn't it? Did you post any pics of your '05?

Steve,

Can I have 2 avatars? I still own my '78 and still love her (although to be honest, when I got the '05 it was getting time to garage the '78 for the Winter, so I have not driven her except to back her out of the driveway, although my hubby has driven her to work. I actually got scolded last week for not driving my '78)

As for pics, I still have to post mine. Been too busy driving her! I did post pics of her being unloaded at the dealership (I wasn't present, the dealer took the pics for me). I'll try to post the new ones I just got back Monday.
