Compustar Remote Starter Alarm dealer installation
Compustar Remote Starter Alarm dealer installation
Hope this is in the right section. I called the local Tweeter store which is the closest Compustar dealer. They priced the Pro P2W9000FMR system with the bypass module and trunk output fully installed at $700. My stang is a manual trans so this was the system I wanted installed. System comes with a lifetime warrany. My thing is the price seems a bit steep. I know that if I buy the system and attempt to install myself I will lose the warranty. I am familiar with alarm installations but with the convienience of a dealer installation, if I have any problems they can fix it. What is everyone's opinion. I know the compustar systems are some of the best, and about all you can get for a manual tranny. All input welcomed. Thanks!!
Nobody? Nobody? Well I talked to Travis at KCAutosound and he shed some light on the pro computsar series. According to the distributor, you have to buy into a large amount of inventory to be a pro dealer. And after comparing both systems in the pro and standard versions, there is not a significant difference. He is working on a package for me on the 2W9000FMR with window roll up module, bypass, and dual stage motion sensors. I have to say I am very impressed and pleased with the conversation he had with me on the phone. I can't wait to see what he comes up with....
Hmm, a friend paid that much ($700) to get a remote start / alarm / etc on his manual Integra, so the price seems reasonable. I'm also interested in this.. and although I'm pretty good with electronics, I will most likely end up paying a car security expert to install it. Not because they may do it better, but because I want someone to yell at if it stops working. And I think the extra $400-500 is worth having all problems you have become someone else's headache.
As for the brand and dealer you mentioned, I dunno (about anything). Let me know how it goes.

I had the CompuStar Pro P2W9000FMR installed last November... total cost was $600... so you're in the ballpark. I really like the system, only issue I had initially were false alarms. They changed out my tilt-sensors, shock-sensors, and finally changed out the brain.. now all is good. You can also have your dealer program this unit for "anti-jacking". This is not just the standard starter kill (meaning, won't start after it's been shutdown), but actual ignition shutdown. If you get 'jacked" (and keep the 2 way remote separate from the key), when thief is driving off with your car, you can activate 'anti-jacking', which will cause the car to shutdown after 4 seconds.

Hmm.. old thread that I had forgotten about. I ended up buying a Compustar Alarm/Remote Starter from a reputable ebay seller and installed it myself. Took me a few hours to get everything tucked away and going, but it was all worth it. Nothing like having a dependable remote starter on a manual trans car! I just need to drive it more!
