Is This Common?

I have had the same experience with the shaking and I live in sunny Florida. Mine usually quits after about 3 to 4 miles. And with having the Pony Package I have the same tires as a GT. I haven't checked my tire pressure lately.

I have a V6 with the pony package and they do it too. I have had several tires that have done this. Once they warm up it goes away. The worst car I have ever seen for this is the new gen Acura RL, its REALLY BAD if the car sits for a few days. If they sit for a few months at the dealership, the tires can be permanently damaged. The Mustang tires are no big deal, the on-center feel of the rack is very sensitive on the new car so its more noticable then the average car(especially if you accellerate hard first thing out of the neighborhood). You should also use the recommended pressures from the car's designer, the number on the sidewall only represent the maximum pressure the tire is designed for.

Tires should be inflated when cold to the max tire pressure listed on the sidewall - not Ford's recommended tire pressure. Ford and Firestone are still battling over this and Firestone will ultimately win.
I've had the same flat spot issue until I bumped up the tire pressure.
This is particularly important in the geographic areas that get very cold.

I had this issue on my factory upgrade wheels, took it to Firestone and had the wheels rebalanced. Drove fine for a short while, then started again.
The local Firestone dealer that rebalanced the wheels said they were off from the factory.
I only have 8400 miles on an 05 delivered in October 04 and keep it parked and covered in the garage. The flat spot posts seem to make the most sense as it goes away after about 2-3 miles.
Just my thoughts
