Who’s afraid of Mustang?
Ford's new Mustang may be getting rave reviews, but a key competitor says it isn't worried. Chevrolet marketing director Jim Campbell says the bow-tie division can cover that segment with the four-cylinder, supercharged Cobalt SS and Monte Carlo. "The Monte Carlo is capturing part of that market," Campbell says, pointing out the coupe's success on the NASCAR circuit.

Allow me:
Chevy Bad, GM Worse......
The 30,000 automatic & v6 ONLY a good sports car?
And I have seen the Cobalt, it brings to mind the Geo Metro. Neon? Had one! Know what happened? THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT ON ME! So I Bought a GM and the coolant system and FWD dropped out on me......If I live through this- NEVER AGAIN. I will see them in Hades before I spend another cent on a GM product.

Just when I thought nobody could make a more stupid comment in this world I hear that one. If I was a GM shareholder (not a chance) I'd ask for that guys resignation on the basis of not knowing the market. Those cars don't compete on any level.
Where is the Monte Carlo market???? I should go drive by some mental hospitals and see what's parked out front.

Actually, before I got my '05 GT, I cross shopped the Monte Carlo thoroughly. However, GM wasn't offering any $25,000 rebates, so the Mustang was a better value.

Well I currently have a 2002 Montecarlo SS, and I cay honestly say no it is not in the same class as the Mustang and Chevrolet did just put their foot in their mouths considering my SS with my aftermarket ram air and other minor tweaks will out run the Supercharged SS since they are only gaing 35-45 more HP when GM blows them anyway....The Monte IS a great car FOR ITS CLASS but like I said it is not in the same class But as great as it is I will be parting with her for a 2005/2006 GT...lest I see what the new S/E looks like and is price point wise.

I owned a Monte Carlo when they first came back in 94' as 95' model. It turned out to be a big turd, transmission blew apart at 45,000 miles, power steering went out shortly after that, brakes every 25k miles... the list goes on....
Not the only problematic Chevy I've owned either... NEVER AGAIN!

No problem, the facts don't lie how can you compare a FWD 200HP V6 *stock* or even a 240hp V6*stock* sedan to a 300hp V8 RWD Mustang, the V8 wins everytime same for cabin room and MPG. To furthermore bash the car just shows a lack of knollege unless you have driven both cars you shouldn't rank on the latter.

Like I said. Performance wise ONLY
Category, quality, etc is another theme

Same goes here.
Next time you're behind one of those wonderful Monte Carlos take note of the exposed screw heads in the bumper mounted reverse lights. Nice touch Chevy. That just screams of quality! Especially when you look a little higher and see the crooked trunk. Seriously, has GM put a trunk on straight in the past 4 years?

Typical Public Relations BS. Would you expect them to step up to the plate and admit the truth? It's GM's fault that the Mustang is stealing more market share from them. They know they needed the Camaro and a new GTO yesterday in an attempt to counteract Ford.

Covering the segment with a supercharged 4-banger? Who are they kidding?

Remember, Dodge Neon SRT-4's with only few mods are running head to head with SVT Terminators. They're putting great races. So those SRT-4's vs a 05GT predict the result.

You're joking, right?
