How are those Shakers as far as not taking on water?? I drive my Stang rain or shine, even in monsoons and I wash it an awful lot.
So I just want to know how they hold up as I'm blasting down the highway in a monsoon, as I already have.. I WANT ONE TOO!!!
they hold up great, it has 4 drains around the scoop itself. and any water that goes into the ducting will just run out of the bottom of the air box.
i have had no issues yet and it works great, driven in lots of rain....

I wasnt the brave man... one of the members our tulsa mustang club did it for me. Apparenty he didnt have a problem cutting other peoples stuff haha. He did a great job
Trimmed Shakers rule!
I thought about weatherstripping, but decided to go with a cleaner look. What are the advantages of sealing it to the hood?? There is no increased airflow.... I would rather not seal it and use it to my advantage... letting the heat out of the engine bay.... Great way to keep it a tad cooler. Looks good both ways... its all about preference. Looks like TacoBill and I used the same door trim to clean up the edges!! Great job!
Jarred,
The only reason I added to mine was to direct the water into the drain tubes on the Shaker & keep it from spilling onto the engine. I did see after looking closer you did add a edging onto the cutoff part, cleans it up nicely.
The heat being retained under the shroud was my one of the reasons I trimmed mine, mainly I did it because it looks more like the 'old school' Shakers on the 70's vintage Mustangs without all the plastic on the 05-08 style.

How much are those things now? Like $700? They should make a lower cost trimmed one. It looks better that way.
Of course, if I knew I'd get one, I would have not bought the GT apperance package. The shaker would make it some expensive exhaust tips that would disapear with a catback. Not sure I could get over cutting the hole... of course I cut a hole in the right side of my Stealths bumper to fit the dual outlet exhaust. How much is a factory hood? :P

AHhh i see what you were referring to now. Havent had a water issue yet...that slight lip seems to be funneling ok...but I'll keep an eye on it. Yeah the heat being trapped was a big issue for me as well.... I understand what CDC was thinking in covering all of the wireing.... but I wish they would have offered a cheaper version that looks similar to mine or tacobills. Less plastic used less cost?? hmmm
