Just downloaded this pretty nifty program that simulates the performance of cars. It has a lot of parameters that you put in, you can even put in the horsepower curve. It does a nice comparison of vehicles. Ran the '05 GT and the numbers it gave me are 0-60 - 5.24 sec, qtr mile - 13.87 @ 103.08. Pretty close to what a lot of the magazines are getting. For those of you that have modded your stang and would like to see what numbers it will give, I will need the following info:

Max HP and torque at the rear wheels
HP @ 500 rpm intervals

Gonna run the automatic here in a minute, will have to put in the specifics of the transmission since the simulator only came with the manual.

Also if you swapped out gears, I will need to know that, it has the 3.55 in the simulator right now.

I've heard that the V6 auto is definately a lot faster than that. I haven't ran mine yet, but I heard it can run 15.2 in the quarter mile all day long.

If someone has dynoed their V6 and could give me their curve, it would make the simulation more accurate, before I put the GT curve it, it was also slower than what people have been reporting.

I wouldn't say they could smoke stock 5.0s as 5.0s have a weight and HP advantage, but I have seen timeslips of stock 05 V6 autos in the 15.1-15.3 range. I would say with a few mods that an 05 V6 could hold its own against a stock 5.0.

Just ran an '89 5.0. Here are the results. Trying to google for some good dyno results to make these more accurate.

It seems to be that you need real dyno graphs in order to get an acurate result with this program, which makes sense seeing as how important the actual HP and TQ curves are to a cars performance as opposed to just the peak HP and TQ numbers.

I know a shop has dyno tuned a V6 auto with only exhaust moded, but they didn't post their dyno graphs. I doubt anyone here has dynoed one, or they would have said something about it.

Overall, its a pretty good program, and like any computer simulation, the more info you give it, the more accurate it gets. There are a lot of features and just something like 1700 cars programmed into it and you can add custom ones, just messing around with making the '07 Shelby Mustang. You can drag race cars against each other, you can put them on various real world tracks and see how they do. It's pretty in depth on what you can do with it.

It wasn't free. There is a free demo you can try out. Here is a link: http://www.cartestsoftware.com/cartest2000/index.html

I couldn't get the demo to install correctly. But I was wondering if you had a chart similar to the 1989 chart you showed earlier for an 05 GT.

Thanks

Yeah, it definitely looks like it needs engine curve info as it's showing a 60 foot time of 2.25 for the 05, and it's not uncommon for people to get below 2.0 for the 60 foot times. /shrug
