Anyone else out there let K&N use your car for R&D? I just got mine back today, finally, it feels so good to be back in the stang. My question is any of you that had them use your car for R&D how much more mileage did they add to it? I was expecting them to add some mileage, especially if they were constantly running it on the dyno, but 100 miles, did they go joy riding or what? Not extremely pissed but I would like to be told upfront and have them be straight with me, especially since they are a big company. Wouldnt think they would be out taking it for a spin for no reason at all, especially that kind of mileage, its not a hundred miles from SD where I am to there.

Actually, I am surprised that it was not more than 100 miles! K&N is going to have to drive your car to see if there are any problems with a particular setup (noise, contact with other items, etc.) And, then if there is they will have to drive it some more to make certain they fixed any problems.

If I were a K&N rep I would feel bad that you are dissapointed, but I might not have thought to mention mileage either if it was going to be 100 miles. You got a cai kit very cheap, and now your car has a story to go with it if you ever decided to sell it. (not worth much, but maybe something) Just my opinion.

Not upset...just surprised that it was that high they were only using it for 3 days officially, I knew they would have to drive it and dyno it, it just seemed like at the phase they say they are in in the development that it would spend more time in the shop than on the road, it is still pretty early in the development, they said they havent even gotten to the point of testing it yet. And I was just wondering if that number sounded right to others for the R&D, I am not upset and didnt say anything to the guy. In fact they asked if they could keep it longer than they orignally stated because they hadnt touched it yet and I said sure.

100 miles actually seems low... then again it was only a couple days , 500-600 miles for a 2 week period is likely what they would want...

A good idea would have been to agree opon how much mileage would have been put on the car. If they had said they needed 100 miles or so, you probably would have changed your mind.

Best to be upfront and ask lots of questions with people, especially if you are lending them your prized posession.

Just add that to a list of questions you need to ask bfore you let a company use your car.
We were at a Ford corporate Mustang anniversary party in '03 and saw what happened to the privately owned show cars that were there.
When they wanted to use our '01 GT at the 2004 party , we knew exactly what questions to ask to protect our baby.
It wound up outside, on a platform, behind barricades.

I wonder if they weren't trying to get gas milage information out of it. I'm surprised too that there isn't a full tank's worth of miles on it. That's one of the things that they bost is gas milage gains...
