For anyone with the 5-speed automatic, what does the owner's manual recommend for service intervals, etc? In the past, an automatic tranny ford required more service than a Chevy, for example.

30,000 miles

I like that....My 95 monte Carlo never made it..Tranny blew apart before it's scheduled 50k and after warranty expired. Take that into consideration!

If you have this tranny serviced, it probably should be done by a Ford dealership. There is no dipstick and the fluid replacement procedure is more involved. I highly recommend changing the fluid in the trans before 30k miles if you drive it hard. Like an engine, the auto trans benefits from agressive fluid service intervals.

Pleae keep in mind that if the manual says 30k that is just a guide for normal average use on your tranny. If you run the crap out of the car and really using it, than I would change the fluid out at around 15K !!!
