car stalls under hard braking
Hey guys, my girlfriends 07 v6 vert is having a issue. It will stall when she brakes hard. i checked the spark plug wires and the vacuum lines and theyre ok. The car has 56k on it. could the battery or alternator be doing it? Would the torque converter be the more likely suspect?
any help would be wonderful.
thanks

In the 'old days' it would typically be vacuum related. When you say you checked the lines did you use a guage? Perhaps a tiny slit in a line is missed by the eye but enough so when under hard demand it leaks...
car stalls under hard braking
Many things can cause an engine to run hot, make sure that the cooling system is full, that there are no leaks, make sure the cooling fan is operating properly, make sure that the there is nothing blocking air circulation thru the radiator fins, check for corrosion inside the radiator causing blockage and reduced cooling.
In the past I had a few automatic cars do the same thing.
One occasion it was a faulty torque converter. It was not working properly and caused my car to stall when stopping.
Another time it was an almost plugged up fuel filter/fuel pump. This was a mechanical pump on the block, not the electric like the Mustang has in the gas tank. The car would accelerate fine, but at times under braking it would stall.
I agree with some of the other posters when I thought a vacuum leak could be a main culprit.
Any trouble codes displayed?
Good luck and I hope the issue is resolved soon.
