Works well on a dusty car as others have said. No problems.

 

only the california duster for my special black shows dust any chance it gets, it's good for between car washes.

 

I always give my paint a once-over with the duster before I use detail spray.

 

I'm using it daily on my daily driven Tungsten Grey Mustang '07. Washing it carefully almost every week and making sure the paint is always well protected with a few layers of wax. I put my Mustang in the garage every day and before I'm leaving in the morning I will use my California Duster. Works like a champ.

 

Ok, now here comes the fly in the ointment. I'm VERY fanatical about my finish and therefore, I NEVER touch my car with ANYTHING when it's dusty. Dust is nothing more than very fine dirt particles and rubbing them across your finish is like using a very fine sandpaper. That is one of the main causes of swirl marks seen in full sunlight. I know that the CA duster is convenient and so are quick detail sprays but they come with a cost and that cost is a swirled finish. The only time I touch my car is when I wash it. This is 20 years of detailing experience talking.

you stroke your car with the duster you don't swirl it around in a scrubbing motion. I said stroke

 

Stroke, rub, swirl, wipe...Use whatever term you want. The result is the same. That's why you can put my 07 daily driver under halogen lights and you will see NO SWIRLS. Can you say the same?

 

I used it on Monday and no scratches resulted... I will in full sun when inspecting the paint... So does anyone have a horror story with the Cali Duster? I have not heard of any and I see it being used at all of the car shows I have been attending...

 

Works great, I also have the smaller one for the interior/dash.

 

I can say the same.I have used the duster on the wifes 03 black Explorer since it was new . Lightly stroking with back and forth ,front to back motion,then quick detail spray and a microfiber cloth with front to back strokes and no swirl marks.

 

Agreed. Bought the CA Duster after I got the black vert. The duster and detail spray are all I need between washes.

 

I agree & the only way is to wash it away , like when I thought I had hardly any , I took the hose to it and you can then see the line of dirt rolling away, so keep it washed and waxed seems to work best !

I've always been paranoid that those things would leave swirl marks in the paint. If that's not the case, maybe I'll get one after all.
