Well, I got mine X-plan so the price had already been agreed upon. I just didn't see any need to sign a contract and put down a deposit.

In this case, you DO have an agreed upon price. That is all I'm talking about. Whether it's A/Z/D/X plan, invoice, X over invoice, MSRP, X-over/under MSRP it really doesn't matter as long as you have an agreement.

Alot of you have said it doesn't matter if I get it or not, but it does matter. It matters to the dealer, the salesperson but more importantly to other enthusiasts/customers. If a dealer thinks the car is sold to you, they tell another customer they don't have that one avaiable for sale. That effects that other buyer as well. If you don't want the car, don't tie up the allocation that could be available to another customer.

Karpo, I want the car. Of course I'm interested, or I wouldn't be there. But if they don't give me what I'm looking for, then they can find another buyer.
I'm not tying up their allocation. Whether or not I will purchase the car will be decided before the car even gets there! It's not like I'm letting the car sit around for weeks, promising them I'm buying the car, then coming in and saying... eh, nevermind. They can sell the car to whomever they want if I decline their offer. I'm not stopping them. It's their car.

Went to pick up my Stang today... looked at the car.. man it was sweet, looked inside saw no IUP and it had Anti-Theft that i didn't order, dealer is like this is the only Sonic Blue stang in their system and you should check the DORA, then I noticed that the VIN was different too... So we walked back found out that was not my car but It should be in any day now....

...People always mention these preorders as "their" car. It's not your car. It's the dealership's, ...
Thanks for the clarification. I just checked my ordering documents on the car and sure enough, I don't have the title to it. I could have sworn I had it but, oh well
Anyway, if its ok with you, I will continue to call it "my car" even though I now know its not. Sort of makes me feel warm and cozy inside while I wait for the dealer's car, which I provided the specs for, to be delivered so we both can complete the contract we have in place.

It may not have been my car technically......but the order had my name associated with it and the window sticker said "Do Not Sell"

Good Luck to all who are waiting.

Yeah, Boss Hog, most people don't know it's still the dealership's car. Unfortunately, that "warm & cozy" feeling you get is usually used against you in pressuring you to buy the car. It sounds like you have a contract already, so that's probably not an issue for you. But for anyone else out there without a contract already in place, be aware that dealerships will frequently use that "ownership" ploy and that feeling of possession to try and get you to buy the car for a price you're not comfortable with.
Time for some sleep for the big day! I'll update sometime very late tomorrow evening, like around midnight/1 AM.

It's cool, Giddyup.
No, my car is not going to be Legend Lime. It's going to be black with double blood red racing stripes (aftermarket). I'm going to take pics of them side-by-side when I get the '05.
Thanks for the luck, siuhog! Luck to you too!
i'm not sure you'll be able to handle both cars, Charlie. you may have to give me your GT500 just to make sure you can afford to have both
