see the '99 Dodge Charger concept (the production one better look somewhat close to that, even just a little)

The only thing I worry about is the insurance industry stepping in again. Lets face it, who needs more than 250 horsepower in a car. (Me!).
Even though the cars are built much safer and people walk away from crashes that they didn't used to, the replacement cost of the vehicle is now much higher. If claims start going up, there goes the business.
Hopefully, that doesn't happen.

That is pretty cool. GM is in trouble
I can't believe I read the whole thing...
Must now attempt to say something pertinent to the two or three different topics this thread has covered.
1. That concept is hideous, retro is a good idea for Ford because there old designs did not suck.
2. He who lives on hope dies of starvation = sutpid F-body owners
3. The GTO sucks, ugly, cost too much. How in the heck is it a halo when its identical to every other car made by pontiac.
4. Kev's ps skills are teh win.
5. Link to the charger concept?

Heres the Charger concept (sorry I didn't put it up before), odds are though, the 2006 Charger will look nothing like this...

Thanks
Oh yeah I think I have seen that before. It's nice... I think the problem with dodge is that they are milking their brand recognizability to much. The four section grill the headlights are almost too visually arresting. The neon/stratus/ that concept look that same, as well as the trucks.
No it probably won't look like that.
wonder does it go real fast?

the retro bashing from f-body fans is probably going to start dying down, as it seems they now believe that they have multiple credible sources saying that in 2008 the camaro will return looking basically like the 1st gen.

For the people saying it is ok to make the GTO look boring and sedate need to really think about what they are saying. What would happen if the Mustang or Corvette were cancelled, making it a legendary status, as they are now hard to come by. Then, after years of craving and begging the car finally comes out and it looks like this. If the corvetter ever looked like this Chevy would never recover. Neither would ford if the Stang looked like this. I mean look at it. It looks like it could be any car, by any company. It totally recalls visions of Chevy Luminas, four-door cavaliers, any of the old style bonevilles. This car is lame as heck. Also, for people saying that they just did this to get to market sooner and that a better product is around the corner, I ask... What looming danger over the shoulder of GM was forcing this car to come to market as soon as possible??? It's not as if they needed it. And for wanting it to be a "flagship," "halo" or some other buzzword for the most popular and cool car of the brand, I ask again. What would happen if this were the Ford GT supercar, the Chevy Corvette, Porsche 911, or Jag XK???? People would lose their minds. Yet, GM retains that hey, "this is a new interpretation of the older car," and that "a new market is being saught after by this car." What new market??? The only markets out there are boring 4-doors, SUVs, crossovers, sportscars, and the new import/tuner crowd. This thing fits into none of them nicely, unless you blend together categories. Any person that claims this car is ok and respects GM/Lutz/Pontiac or themselves should be banned from speaking about cars ever again.
The Monte SS???????
I can't say much I considered it... Before I knew anything about cars. And that all Chevy SS packages are useless and driving on the wrong wheels.
GTo and Gm as a whole Suck. That is all.
PS: Just saying GTO now makes me cringe.

So you're saying that an overpriced, limited production, import filled this void? Methinks not.

And the Monte Carlo SS, before the GTO introduction, was the most powerful non-Corvette car you could get from GM after the F-bodies died.
