When I was at a Ford dealer in Fargo Nd last august they told me they had no stock and hadn't sold one yet. I inquired at a few aftermarket places in my city and they had a part number but no available stock yet. I guess it will take a while for stock to start appearing.

Hhhmmmm...I get the same thing when searching online parts distributors. They have the part number okay but it's "not available". Just does not make sense!

Anyone else?

Has anyone checked other brands? When we had an Escape you could buy a Fram air filter that fit perfectly for about $6 at Wal Mart. I would assume this one's no different.

Also, 15k miles seems like a lot. Isn't it usually more like 6k or 10k? I think my Mazda6 was 10k and the Escape was 10k or 12k.

I bet you could take an air hose and blow it out enough to get you by for a few more thousand miles. That's what I have done to my air filters in some of my daily driven cars. Don't get the nozzle too close and tear the filter but close enough to see the dirt fly out the opposite side.

I'm pretty sure Rock Auto sells the Bosch cabin air filter for about $14. Auto Zone sells the same filter for about $18.

Moss has one for $19.95 plus shipping. Not as cheap as others stated on this thread but they have them in stock

I can handle $20. The dealer was charging $45 for the one in the Escape which is crazy and it looks like the Mustang part from Ford is no different.

No one has found one to match at a major retailer yet?

Ok, so this started in 2005, right?

I have a 2002 and I'm trying to figure out if I have a Cabin Air Filter. If so, I'm sure she needs changing! ha ha

My '05 only has 9,000 miles on it, but I live in the eastern Washington dust bowl of the Columbia Basin. I just changed out the filter. Time-wise it is a year and a half. It probably could have gone for another six months, but changing it was a probably good idea.

Cost was $11.85 from my friendly Ford dealer.

I should also mention that it was a little tricky doing this job. I removed all four trim fasteners and pried the cowl cover up. But, there was still darn little clearance. Be careful you don't break something when you do this. Getting the old filter out and the new filter in takes a little persuasion. Also, make sure the cowl cover's rubber seal against the windshield is back to where it should be.

Do all 05s have a cabin filter? Took my car in yesterday for her 15000 mile service. When I asked about the cabin filter, they said she didn't have one. I emailed Ford with my VIN and they said she did. I called another dealer to ask if all had them, they said some do,some do not. Emailed Ford again,no response as of this posting. If mine does not have one, I would rather not tear into anything looking. How can I find out without messing her up? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Manual says I have one. Page 31 or so I think. Mechanic says "no", Ford says "yes". I get sick every time anything is removed and or taken apart on this car, never seems to be put back exactly right. Simple solution would be to take her apart as per the fine post with pics.,I just wanted to avoid the dismantle if possible.Thought someone might know if all 05s had them or not.

Thanks for all the help! Pics were inspiring-I opened her up, and there was her filter the Ford mechanic said she did not have! A new filter is on order. BTW I am female,I was not born with the mechanical gene so many of you have.(I know there are good female mechanics out there. I am not one of them.) Never would have attempted this on my own. Thanks again!

It would be nice if I could FIND a replacement cabin air filter.

Auto Zones around here suck. They don't carry it, although the part is listed in the manual. Pep Boys didn't have it either.
