1) Turn on wipers - switch off ignition when wipers reach the top of their sweep.
2) Remove pin type retainers (2) Lift rt side cowl trim up releasing clip type retainers that secure to body.
3) Remove cabin filter-make sure top of filter is free of debris.-install new filter
4) Reverse procedure to reassemble.

Hope this helps!
Cheers!

How often should it be changed under normal circumstances?

Be careful when you lift the plastic cowl cover off, it may rub on the hood hinge....

Neither did I.

Was this an '06 thing or did it start with the '05?

Answered my own question...it's an '05 thing. It's definitely there. Mine was pretty dirty.

If going to Ford for regular services, do they take care of this for you, or is this something I will have to do myself? Didnt know I had one ...

They will take care of it for a price. I had that surprise at the 15K maintenance. Cost about $135. I'll replace the cabin filter myself from now on.

Why is this cabin air filter so difficult to source? I cannot find it in any parts places or websites. I'm not keen on getting it from the stealer at some hiked price.

Can anyone give me a link to the $12 replacement filter mentioned above?
Also, the replacement air-filter is around $45....kinda high when i've been paying around $20 for simliar domestic stuff up to now.

thanks.
