But seriously -- why don't Mustangs have sunroofs?

I'd kinda like a sunroof. I'm not cutting a hole in my roof or anything now, but I might have picked that option if it had been available when I got my car.
Thoughts, anyone?

my dad has one....it was dealer installed, but he went crazy on them becuase he wanted the car without the sunroof, but it was the last one, and they were going to chrage him for the modification.......he ended up getting it (sunroof) for free. I love it. Would definatley choose one if it were an option....only bad thing....cant really put lemans stripes on the car.

Probably to keep costs down. Although I would have ordered a sunroof if it was available at the time.

If the sunroof would be as good as the one on our Toyota Highlander, i'd be all for it. I'm not sure there is enough room or, possibly, there is too much curvature in the roof itself that the glass would also have to curve - causing clearance problems?

I love that. I would've gotten that in a heartbeat.

T-tops, on the other hand...that's a little too 1970s for me.

T-Tops, do you remember the Mustang II and how butt ugly it was.

It was a undercover Capri.

I would love a sunroof in my Mustang. I drive around with the windows down 99% of the time, and a sunroof would be a great addition. I'd never go aftermarket though, I've heard too many horror stories of leaky roofs, bad installations, etc. It really is too bad that Ford doesn't offer a factory option for one.

What does that roof look like on the outside. The inside looks good

Unfortunately I don't think the S197 Stang has enough room for the glass to slip back into the rest of the hardtop without having to "stick out" (see the attached pic)...if it does, no thanks...I don't care for that look.

I found the pic at this site...looks like excellent quality...but it's not an aerodynamic look...

The II just gets no love... It wasn't a bad car - just a product of its time. The Cobra and the King Cobras were pretty cool.

Actually, it was an "undercover" Pinto. The Capri, during the Mustang II years, was inported from Germany. I was really a pretty nice car. When the Fox body Mustang came out, in 1979, Mercury named their version the Capri.

Um, they're only good for letting sun and/or fresh air in. Since I try to keep both of those out, I guess I'm just fine with it as is. :-) I'm an A/C man all the way (fresh air sucks... or blows).

i would love to have a real sunroof, however i think for me if there is a way to have saleen put a scenic roof in my car, i would be all over it. I think the glassback doesn't look as nice as the saleen glass roof.
