If Jack was in his own car and an officer ran the plates and they came back to Jack he (officer) wouldn't even bother pulling him over.

If the officer did stop Jack (didn't know Jack was driving the car) and walked up to the window and saw Jack he would turn around and leave.

Jack Bauer is luckier than me!

Let me here quote Sammy Hagar.
What used to take two hours now takes all day.

If nothing else- I haven't learned to go faster than the posted speed which is what appears to have gotten me in trouble in the first place. And **** if it doesn't **** people off to be behind me now.

I now have
A) The ticket money in case I don't get out of it.
B) a plan to show up at court and give that cop the third degree, I've been doing my homework.
C) As of Friday July 15, Tickets to see Eric Clapton, which is on my top ten list of things to do before I die, and will go YARDS towards making my life a lot brighter.

I don't know how it works in your area regarding fighting the ticket and paying the fine...but here in CA if you choose to fight the ticket you have to post bail (fine from ticket) when you notify the court you wish to fight the ticket.
If you win the money is refunded, if you lose obviously they keep the money.
You might want to ask the court about that. Also, ask them if traffic school is an option if you choose to pay the fine and not fight the ticket, and ask if the judge will let you attend traffic school if you fight and lose the case.

Mr. Southerland has a special sticker on his rear bumper that keeps him from getting tickets. It says " I Know Jack "

And please don't lump all of AL in your statements, plenty of people in AL get tickets for anything over the speed limit.
Perhaps it's just me, but my ability to maintain an EXACT speed within 1 mile of posted speed limits for extended periods of time is extremely difficult. As someone just pointed out, even cruise control isn't completely accurate.

That's why the term "spirit of the law" was created. It means that an officer can use his judgement in determining whether a "violation" is ticket worthy. I think anywhere within 5 miles of the posted speed limit is quite reasonable and any cop ticketing in this range is just an a**hole.

Proof today:
I was on the interstate. I was going SLOOOOOOOOOOOWER than the pack because I still have a sore tail and haven't learned to speed up so I don't get accused of slowing down to avoid a ticket. I was still cruising along at 75-wow five miles, so shoot me. State trooper running radar, I squeeze by and he picks a car at random behind me and pulls them over- EVERYONE there was going in a pack, and he just goes out, pulls behind one of em and throws on the lights and ruins someones day.Coulda been me, but luckily I was not speeding and was tucked behind an 18 wheeler.

Then later on I went through a speedtrap- County cop, 1/2 mile later city cop, 1/2 mile later State cop. WTH was the point of that? For the record, I was going 50 in a 55 at the time because it was near where I got my bogus ticket.

I think if you are flat out not drag racing down a lonely road alone, the cop is just making quota. I just happened to be the one he picked to make his quota that unlucky day. I still think its BS and I still plan to make my court date, and I won't be sharing donuts with him anytime soon.

April,
I was traveling on a street near my house this morning passing businesses and was radar'd by a city cop. As I'm traveling down the street with a car on either side of me, I see him, lift off of the gas pedal, he then points his POS radar gun right at me (not at either of the other two cars who were mostly in front of me). It was blatantly obvious that the Sonic GT got the radar point (even though I was going slower) and not the two loser econo cars around me who were going faster.

Luckily I was probably only going 42 when I lifted (speed limit is 40) so he didn't follow me (I did have a sigh of relief because I'm ususally pretty speedy in that zone and could really get popped on any given day).

I just couldn't get over how I was picked out of the group (kind of like you were) and I know it because I had total eye contact with him as he pointed his stupid gun at my car.

I wish you lots of luck when you go fight your case!

Tell me about it!
Here is what I think happened now:
Cop going along, sees a pack of cars.
Pops out the Radar gun
Sees mine which is the most visible going slower than the pack
Assumes I was speeding, saw him and slowed down
Pulls ME over and insists it HAD to be me because I was the one going slower.
Told me I was FOS when I said I had my CC on. I ALWAYS have my CC on, I can't recall a time in recent memory I haven't.

I hate to tell him, but I go slower than the pack at all times for just the reason if I was speeding the cop would pull the bright yellow one over first. Which in hindsight is exactly what came to bite me on the *** in the first place.

Don't admit even 1 mile over.

I know it was said before about speeding is speeding but if you even admit to going 1 mile over, your guilty (in court that is). If they ask, say you were on cruise at 55mph (the speed limit) and if your car was going over, it was the cruise control or the radar gun that had to be faulty cuz you know you weren't going anywhere 75. Did you ask the cop when the last time the gun was calibrated and ask for proof. They are supposed to calibrate every shift. SOunds like a mechanical problem to me...Let them prove differently...You just have to fight it by going to court. Half the time the cop doesn't show up anyway (which is what they figure anyway)....If your not guilty, fight it.

With this said, I am done obsessing with this mess. Off to happy things again- like swimming and shopping and such. Tired of being in a bad mood .
This was my first ticket ever, and it will BE my last. Before this my most special weapon against speeding was driving a high profile car. After, it has turned me into my Grandmother.
I will see him in September at court.

guess this post did not last too long based on the last 2 by April lol
