While I do enjoy some of the tribute stangs to the Mach 1 and Boss, I went the other direction. My tribute is to the 65/66 GT fastback.

As far as the V6---I used to think the same thing but I am now a believer---check out what this guy has done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T__VGNX7sVI the second race is the best!

You gotta respect that no matter what.....
@ PSF - Thanks for the compliment. One of my goals was to bring some respectability to the 4.0 V6, and even converting one person makes the attempt worthwhile. It is a stout motor, and extremely receptive to mods.
Back to topic, I gotta say 2005Mach1's ride is one of my favorites. All of these Mach 1 tributes are extremely well thought out. The whole V6 bashing is insane. Whether V6 or GT tribute you gotta respect the work and effort put into these cars.

Nice post Lance. This topic got way out of hand and those who had to be warned should be ashamed of themselfs, its just not called for.
As for 05Mach and the other tribute cars, nice job guys. You have a few fans out there.

Nice words and great post.
The V6 V8 bashing has got to stop.

I don't know if anybody brought this up, but I think that an 05+ although maybe not just like the body of a 69 or 70, is a much better platform to build a mach1 tribute then a 99-04 . Ford didn't think it was a bad idea, because they based there new mach 1s on 03 and 04s and those cars are badass. So if those cars look good with the mach 1 treatment, I think the 05+ would be far superior. Just my $.02.

Its your car to enjoy, so do with it as you wish.

Ford created the first tribute by designing the S197 to have similar features as the 65 - 68 fastback....

I would not compare Ford Motor Company's using some styling queues from early Mustangs as the same thing as Bubba slapping on Boss 302 stripes he bought on the Internet on to his 2005+ 4.6 litre GT and calling it a tribute.
Slapping on Boss 429 emblems wont make the car any faster either.
Personally, I really dislike Boss 302 clones built on 1969 or 1970 Mustangs too. That is because they are fake like just a cubit zirconia is compared to a diamond. Tribute=wannabe
Now the Saleen Parnelli Jones is an actual tribute which includes a 302 inch mill.....

That is the best looking car I have seen. The features what the S197 has and what it was design after 65-68 Fastback. And thank you for calling it a "Mustang GT". One mod I would add would be clear corners to match the car in the pic along with yours.

I've thought about the clear corners, but I like the amber ones as well.. tough call on that one.

Thanks!

because i like the look of a mach 1 and i dont consider that a tribute or anything, but go ahead and hate on me lol

I showed this car to let members know what was designed for Ford. Sorry if some didnt like it. Thanks to the others that did.
P.S. Remind me not to post pics, so it doesnt give people heart attacks ******* my car! LOL

I've gotta make a comment on this thread. I've also made a 'Boss Tribute' or whatever you prefer to call it.
Bottom line is, your ride, whatever makes you happy. I initally was going to add the 70 style Boss stripes to mine, prefered the 69 style C-stripes on this body style.I've added a Shaker scoop, because thats what I liked. I'm aware the Shaker wasn't offered until 70.I also did not black out my hood like the 69's. I still run the GT badges, because it is in fact an 06 Mustang GT & not a Boss 302 or 429. I don't consider myself a 'poser' & really don't care. I'm happy with the way the car turned out & enjoy driving it every day. My last Mustang prior to this one(family, kids, mini-vans)was an original 70 Boss 302 & this one (06)would have given it a run,the Boss had an edge on the handling, but overall I prefer my current one. I wish I still had the 70, but I enjoy being able to drive my 06 every day & it never fails to turn heads.

I guess my whole point & my opinion on the subject is that I did with my ride what pleases me & I'm happy with it. I couldn't buy & keep a 70 Boss 302 again, so I dressed my current Mustang to resemble the Boss package. It's what I preferred. Everybody is entitled their opinion & their personal tastes. This is mine, just my 2 cents worth.

"Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery..."

I will never understand people who bash others for creating something different with the car they have.

I think the black and red GT is beautiful and the Mach1 tribute is
right on target. They look great and it is noticable that the owners have worked hard at creating something that they enjoy.

If you dont like it then STFU. Dont be so self-important that you
have to rain on others fun and excitement.

We all have different tastes... no need to rant on others just
because you dont like what they have done. I have seen cars
where the owners have stuck TOO MANY stickers, badges, scoops
to the point where the cars look GAWDY. That is the kind of cars that I do not like.

But ****! I wouldnt be so self-important to start talking down to those
people and disrespecting their vision of what THEY like. They enjoy what they have and more power to them.

It would be a better world if the Tribute/clone HATERS would all realize that they are MORE lame than the tribute/clones that they think are lame...

Just say NO to haters... they cant help it. They came from the factory PERFECT and to change anything to resemble ANYTHING that has prevously existed would be blasphemous!!
