Boss/Mach tribute Why?

Ok first off let me start by saying that lots of the tribute cars do look cool and would prob do some of the same mods. But didnt the Mach and Boss come out 69+ years. And the 05-09 retro looks like the 67-68 mustang. To me is a little miss matched some. I feel the same as when someone does the SN95 99-04 mustang to look like the S197 which looks different to say the least. I would think that the next generation mustang will look more like the 69-70's mustang and then the tribute cars will then fit the look? Anybody thinking the same? Again I do like some of the creative ideas that some do on the tribue cars just seem a litte early for that look your looking for?

Well, I'm just going to say that you have to work with what you have. If you have an 05-07 and want to make a "tribute", why not? Why wait? I personaly think alot of them just start out adding mods, and it just kinda ends up that way. I like em, whether they're miss-matched or not. Another case of "it's your car, do what you want". That's what makes these cars so great. We can all mod them to our personal taste. You said yourself that you'd probably do some of the same things. I'll be looking forward to seeing yours.

Simply put, the 70 Boss is the coolest freakin' Mustang built. Ever. ( IMHO ) And with the right mods, it can strike a definate resemblence. I don't think that the S197 is based off of any one or two years particular, but draws from the best features of many classic Mustangs.

I agree with the 70 Boss being the coolest. I just wouldnt put side louvers on the same car as a Boss tribute. This is just an example of a miss match I am referring to. I do think that the next generation is going to more like the 69-70's Boss and Mach so that is when i will start with my mods or tribute. Again some of the ideas look good on the cars. Just others looks to me miss matched. I will be the first to do some miss matching. I had a 1998 explore with 17" cobra R's and then 96 cobra wheels on it.

Just don't confuse tribute with clone.

There's nothing wrong with basing a car on a particular theme, then tweaking it to your liking.

And yes Mach, that looks sweet. Tastefully done w/out overkill. Nice.

Quarter windows like a '66... dash interior like a '67-'69... grille and headlights like a '69.

I agree.

I don't see how a 6-cylinder Mach can be tasteful though.

Then again, I think all the Mustang II Mach 1s should've gone straight back to the crusher.

I hope all the REAL Machs that have passed on are rolling over in their graves at the thought of a V6 Mach wanna-be.

Another example of what I am talking about is that the guy who bought my 2000GT back in 01 took off the GT badges and put on the Cobra snake emblem in its place along with SVT on the back.

I guess it was the only "Cobra" Ford never built in 2000?

While I like the Mach 1 and Boss, I do agree, that there isn't enough styling queues in the body of the S197 to do just to a tribute. The side indent swoosh, the rear quarter window, and slope the rear glass are, in my opinion, more 65 - 68. While I do enjoy some of the tribute stangs to the Mach 1 and Boss, I went the other direction. My tribute is to the 65/66 GT fastback.
