Blocking hood vents on 07 GT500 hood

I'm in the process of doing a GT500 conversion to my GT....for now, just cosmetic changes. Since this is a daily driver and will be out in the elements I'm thinking of somehow blocking the heat extractor vents on the hood so that water can't leak through. I saw the Cervini scoops that cover the vents but I'm not really feeling those, if you know what I mean.
Has anyone done this with their hood vents, or know anyone who has?
Thanks,
Mark

I'm sure Ford designed the GT500 hood to withstand elements. I doubt any more water would be getting under the hood at rest than when you are driving with a regular hood in the rain.

I'd leave 'em open.

The engine is pretty waterproof (I wash the engine in my car at every wash, been doing so for 13 months now), so I dont see a problem with a little rain water.

Completely defeats the purpose of the hood...

yeah, Im sure it and the engine are plenty able to withstand water and the likes, or they wouldnt have put the heat extractors in to begin with, it's not going to be a problem, so dont worry about it

If you block the vents from the top, it's not going to look right. If you block the vents from underneath, you'll end up getting pools of water just sitting in the vent and you don't want that either. Just leave it as is......a lot of GT-500 guys use them year round with no problems.

Thanks a lot guys. I was told before that the water shouldn't be a problem. But in my mind I kept comparing it to a leaky roof At any rate, with all of the examples you've listed, my **** self is feeling better about it now

Those of use who were waiting for the '03 Mach 1 to be released asked questions about water in the engine bay. The hole in the hood is larger than the vents in the GT500. We had contact with Ford engineers who talked about the testing they needed to do to meet their reliability standards, especially with the exposed air scoop.

It is highly likely those vents were tested with the kind of conditions that included rain and snow.

I don't think there is anything to worry about in terms of negative engine effects.
