Blackity Black Black BLACK...
Hey gang...seems like most of the Black GTs received/seen so far have had the Red interior and accent package...I sat in one with the Light Graphite Interior today, I liked it...anyone want to see pics???
Well, since we are talking about colors in this thread I saw four car haulers heading south today on I-75 with Mustangs on them. The first truck was all by it's lonsome and had a redfire GT and a silver GT on board..nothing else.
The next two haulers were traveling as a pair. The first of these two had two black Mustang GT's. The second hauler had two V-6 cars in what had to be mineral grey as they looked almost beige from across the divider. They could have been Legend Lime as well I suppose, but both cars had rocker striping. I could have missed some Mustangs on these two as both haulers were full. (Montegos, Montereys, blah, blah)
The final hauler had a sonic blue GT and another silver GT. The blue looked a lot different in person from what I expected, but it could have just been the light playing tricks with my eyes. Is this not the same old sonic blue? The paint actually appeared to have a "shift" quality, but again this could have just been the light and reflections from cars next to it. And, it may have been playing enough of a trick on my eyes for me to get the color wrong. However, I cannot think of another color that would in any way appear blue/purple.
Amazing what you notice even with limited time to stare. But, here are a few items. Every one of the GT's was wearing the machined wheels. Out of six GT's I would have expected at least one one car to be wearing the Bullit-style wheels. Is there a production line delay on these rims I missed?
Also, on the last car hauler the blue GT had a rear spoiler which really caught my eye. I think this may have been because none of the previous GT's was been wearing one! I know spoiler delete is an option, but four out of six cars with spoiler delete would seem like a high number. I could have simply missed it on the other cars, but....
IMHO the Mustang tends to wear the more "basic" or classic colors better. The biggest surprise for me was just how much I did not like the Windveil red. I know I am in the minority in this, but it just does not wear well in person to my eyes. I think a black-cherry type of color would have worked much better. Black and silver were both great, with black just looking plain menacing.
Finally, even though I know Ford wants to "save" some colors for later, I am really surprised that they did not offer a dark blue or green the first year. Neither color being on the palette seems odd to me, especially with how well this car wears the darker colors. Presidential blue would just be a show stopper.
