Bittersweet end, but how fitting (Bullitt pics)

I finally sold my 68 fastback-for a number of reasons. I really didn't want to, but in the end it was the right decision. It's going to a guy in Atlanta, Ga. When I met the auto hauler my spirits raised a little when I saw an 08 Bullitt already on the trailer. So my 68 fastback rode off into the sunset with an 08 Bullitt. I thought that was kinda cool. I had to take a few pics.

The '68 will likely not be red for long.

Nice car I'm sure it was a very difficult decision selling it and I, for one, don't envy having to do that at all. I agree that it was fitting for it to ride off with a bullitt. I know it was tough, but you still have one h_ll of a Mustang left to "play" with. I can't wait to see the pic's of it after you get the hood painted

I still regret selling my '66 vert back in '84. BTW, he just drove off with your license plates!

Sounds like it went to a god home Rob. You'll miss it but hey, we all move on. Good Luck.

I experienced having the two Bullitts back in '01. It was an exciting period in my life. It's very likely the new owner is planning a similar experience.

There's a lot more to it. As OKLACOP has acknowledged, 40 years takes a toll on a car. Not only are the elements a factor but previous owners' innovations are as well, add the fact that there is a big differences with the current generation and what we have gotten use to.

Such a classic is a two sided sword. If it is kept original it falls short and if it becomes a resto mod with today's standards it will wind up costing more than a brand new GT500.

Guys, although it looked good on the outside, it needed more TLC than I can afford right now. I have a 7 year old and a 2 year old. I have my 06 to play with and as a family we have big plans for a new house on 2 1/2 acres in the near future. This realy allows us to save a lot more money to do that. Besides I always really wanted a 69 anyway and the wife said after the new house I have the green light to start looking. I learned alot with the 68 and I know now what to look for when shopping for 40 year old car.

hey Backafter20.........check this pic......he only got the standard Oklahoma Plate.......I kept this personalized state issued Oklahoma Mustang club tag for me.....it's already on the garage wall.

Would it be wrong to ask what your 68 went for $$?

So sorry you had to let it go, hopefully the new owner takes care of it. I too would love to find a mint 69 Mach. It would be a very hard decision between a 69 Mach or a new GT500, lucky for me I can't afford either.

i understand but it would still pain me. althought i must say there is a bright lght at the end of the tunnel with the 69! i remember when i was a kid that the neighbor had a car like that and it was beautiful. the car was almost 20 years old and was a classic then...now you dont see them around and they are 40 years old. im afraid by the time i turn 40 or 45 years old and can actually afford something like that it will be so expensive that i wont be able to afterall. its really sad to part with a piece like that but good luck with the 69 man.

I don't mind.......I paid $25,000 for it This past July........Sold it for just under $28,000......not bad at all in my opinion. I did invest about $1000 in it with some parts and upkeep, but I still came out ahead.

I long for a '68 fastback, but the way prices are, I wonder if I'll ever get one...
