Thumbs up

There is an 02 mustang that I'd like to get so I'm looking to make an offer that should be a good deal. But I don't want find that, in a month or two, when the new mustangs have arrived that I've jumped the gun and my good deal isn't so good anymore because values on older models have dropped significantly.

Does anyone have an educated estimate on how much the previous design will drop in value when the 05s come out?

I saw an ad for a 2002 GT for $6995 in my local paper. Makes me mad to think of how much I paid for my 2002 V6 new! :bang:

I don't trust the ad myself. A GT for 7 G's just sounds to good to be true! It's either got about 150,000 miles on it or . . . just has to be some thing! I might call later to check it out. If they'll take my v6 in trade than $%&# yeah! B) haha

Yep, a 02 GT should be between 12k - 14k.

Well, my situation is either and SN97 model GT or a 2005 V6. I am torn like no other. However I will probably end up getting the GT.

If I were you, I would keep saving money, and get a new 05 Stang GT.

I don't think you'd get much a deal for a USED car. The real deal makers are going to be the '04s still on the lots when the '05 comes out.

So,
I'm looking for educated numbers here. What kind of deal would you guess?

I've gotta offer this guy something soon.

Does anyone have any experience an know what kind of drop where talking about here, ...New and/or used?

www.kbb.com or edmunds.com will give you close figures on what a used car is "worth". You can only hit on the simple negotiation tools for used cars. Are tires worns? Does it have tint? Things you can haggle with or things not on the car that you'd like to have, but it doesn't so you want compensation (lower price) for it.

Just get the price you WANT or willing to pay for, not the price that's offered.

A "new" '04 on the lot has two big things not going for it: Its last year's model and It's the last year of this style. Used cars always have those things, so you can't really use that as leverage.

My $0.02.

In my mind, the only way used Mustang prices will drop drastically is if a lot of 99-04 Mustang owners trade their cars in, flooding the used market.

Your best bet would be to try and swing a deal on a brand-new '04. You can probably get it for not much more than a used GT and you get the benefit of a brand-new car

This seams like good logic. Hopfully the 05s rule the road and encourage enthusiasts to go and get new rides. I kinda doubt though that dealers are going to have to get rid of new 04s for not much more than used 05s. er...well maybe you're talking about new 04 V6 as compaired with a used GT. But then we're not looking at the same car anymore. Older GTs are still gonna have quite alot over new V6s in the way of performance.

However the fact that there has been no definitive conclusion here would lend itself to the idea that there won't be that much of a price drop on older cars.
