The Best and Worst Vehicles of 2000-09

This is from an article by Scott Burgess in todays Detroit News

Best
The Ford Mustang: Redesigned in 2005, the Mustang struck a chord that hadn't been heard in decades. The retro styling drew from the car's heritage, and Ford masterfully managed that image with limited-edition models and the return of the Shelby GT 500. The 2008 Mustang Bullitt is one of my favorite cars of the decade because it's just awesome.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum and I hope everyone has a Great New Year !!

I agree- the 05 mustang was such a sight for sore eyes to so many. I know it was the first new car Ive ever seen that I both couldnt pick apart, and had a craving for.

never thought Id see the day that the 'good old days' would return regarding cars- but these are the good old days

Sadly I think its kinda lkike the early '70s again- economy tough, fuel supplies/costs iffy, dragging out a war that were trying to get away from, and climate change concerns(but back then it was manmade global cooling- remember that?)...
just afraid a new generation of pintos/vegas (prius/volt...?) are in the works to save us from ourselves and the V8's might be gone the way of the dodo bird (again) soon. I hope not, but whoever thought the 69 boss 429s would be near worthless on used car lots back in the day either...camaro/challenger/mustang/whatever- if your thinking of getting a performance car, I wouldnt wait much longer- they certainly aint going to ever get cheaper as with the way the government is diluting our money with the magic printing press, inflation HAS to start hitting hard... and I just got a bad feeling the sound of a new V8 on dealers lots wont be around very msany more years at a price the average working guys and gals can afford- if they are around at all.

I remember going to my dealership the morning the 05's "premiered" at the dealerships. My local dealer had a Black GT and a white with black stripes V6. I almost traded my new focus on the spot for the V6.

+1, Tim.

I keep saying it to whoever will listen. The good old days are right now. If the Volt and its ilk are the success I think they can be, then the muscle car will soon vanish again. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, I remember when muscle cars were considered worthless. That GTO Judge or BOSS 302 that goes for 60k today was likely sold some time in 1983 for $1500 and a carton of smokes.

Order one the way you want it while you can.
