Best summer/performance tire for GT?
Just wondering what you guys think is the best summer/performance tire for the GT? I live in Southern California so I never have to worry about snow and it rarely ever rains. No sense in really having all season tires. What would you guys suggest?
And as far as the size, it would be the stock 235/55/17's.

Limiting yourself to 'summer only' I would go with the Bridgestone Potenza RE040 but the tread is really soft and you can go through a a set really quick. If you aren't 'flooring it' constantly I would consider the high performnce all-season tires which will get you a real quality set that will get you 20,000+ miles, namely the Goodyear Eagle GT or Michelin PS, both available in your size. Certainly not cheap, but great tires. I just put a set of the Eagle GTs on my GT/CS this past Christmas. Outstanding, but I'm also not a 'pedal to the metal' type driver.

I lived in SoCal (Orange County) for 7 years, with an Infiniti G35 Sport, used summer tires only (Sumitomo), no need for all-seasons, and if you get tires with a high tread-wear rating they will last a long time. Now I live in Las Vegas for 3 years, with my Mustang GT and, again, only use summer tires. This set is Continental Extreme DW Summer. Love the Contis. And the tread-wear rating rivals some all-seasons, (340), with superior grip levels.

Go to TireRack.com and select the size you are looking for and then select the summer only tires. It will give you reviews and prices to compare. I have Hanhook R-S3 with a soft 140 treadwear rating that will last 15,000 to 20,000 miles which is 2 to 3 summers around here.
This is the tires for 265/40/18
