I found this site while planning a little backroads trip. It is for California, but you may have something similar where you live, or you may want to come out for a visit. It is designed for motocycles, but most of the roads would suit our cars very well.
This site covers virtually every decent backroad in the state. Click on any road and you will see pics of what it looks like along the way and also a map of exactly where the road is located. I've found it quite useful. As someone has said, "so many roads and so little time". Enjoy!

There is no better drive in the U.S., than the one that links Tennessee-North Carolina called 'The Dragon'. It is 318 curves in an 11 mile stretch, and people come from all over the world.......Yes, I said all over the world to drive it. It's a state highway through the backwoods and mountains.....and nothing but a pure adrenaline rush. They do have a website too....www.tailofthedragon.com. P.S. - I drove it many times when I lived in Knoxvegas (Knoxville), Tennessee
